  • First Secret Murder

    Santa Barbara. Robert Domingos and Linda Edwards used their senior ditch day to sunbath on a beach. Their bodies were discovered a few days later in a shack. Zodiac shot each one several times and tied them in a shack where he attempted, but failed, to burn the shack down. They only knew it the zodiac in 1972.
  • Second Secret Murder

    Cheri Josephine left her house to go to the library. Her body was discovered the next morning near her car. She was stabbed and her throat was slashed. A watch of a man was found in the crime scene.
  • First Letter

    A month after Cheri was killed, a letter was sent to the newspaper company. It said, "Miss Bates was stupid. She went to the slaughter like a lamb. I am not sick, I am insane." The letter ended with the letter Z.
  • The First KNOWN Murder

    The First KNOWN Murder
    Vallejo, California. Two teens around the age of 16 were found dead in a gravel parking lot near their car. Their bodies were later identified as David Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen.
  • Second Murder: Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau

    Second Murder: Darlene Ferrin and Michael Mageau
    Blue Rocks Springs Park. Zodiac approached a car while carrying a flashlight. He shoots two people, 19 year old Michael Mageau and 22 year old Darlene Ferrin, killing them instantly. However, he decided to come back a few minutes later to shoot them again.

    Michael Mageau survived the attack and later on described the shooter. He explained that he was a white man, around 26 years of age, around 5''8 with light brown hair.
  • Second Letter

    A letter arrived to the San Francisco Examiner newspaper claiming to be from the Zodiac. It said "I like killing people because it is so much fun" in coded letters. Threatened newspaper company if they didn't publicize the letters. It was the first time he names himself the zodiac.
  • Third Murder: Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard

    Zodiac appeared at the beach while wearing a hooded costume with a white cross that is circled. He approached Cecelia Shepard and Bryan Hartnell and claimed he escaped from prison and wants money. The zodiac stabbed both of them several times and went to Bryan's car to write the date, time, and technique of their murder.
  • Fourth Murder: Paul Stine

    Paul Stine, a cab driver picked up a passenger, the Zodiac. As he was driving, he shot him in the head and took a piece of his shirt. The Zodiac escaped before the police arrived.
  • Fourth Letter

    The Zodiac sent a letter carrying a piece of Paul Stine's shirt. He mocked the police and threatened to shoot a school bus carrying children. He claimed the attack and murder of Paul.
  • Fifth Letter: Longest one from the Zodiac

    He sent the police a message claiming that they stopped him in one of the crime scenes, but let him go. He also sent them a recipe for bombs.
  • Failed Murder

    Kathleen Johns was stopped by the Zodiac when he told her that her wagon wheel was loose. He offered to tighten it, but instead of doing that, he loosened it causing her car to stop. He offered her a ride to the gas station. In the car, he tried to kill her, but she took her baby and jumped from the car. She survived.
  • Sixth Letter

    Zodiac sent a letter to the police station talking about a ride he took with a woman and her baby, possibly Kathleen Johns. He claimed he was going to abduct her.
  • Fifth Murder

    Donna Lass moved to Lake Tahoe to work as a nurse. She disappeared and is believed to be abducted by the Zodiac and is possibly killed.
  • Albany Times Letter (Last Letter)

    The Zodiac wrote a letter saying, " You are wrong, I'm not dead or in the hospital, I am alive and well and I'm going to start killing again. Below is the name of my next victim, but you better hurry cause I am going to kill her August 10 at 5 pm. ALBANY is a nice town.
