Saul Crowned

1043 BCE

The tribes wanted a king. They wanted to be like all the other nations, so they asked Samuel for a king. Eventually they cast lots and Saul was picked. Saul didn't think he'd be a good king, so he ran away and hid but he was found and crowned anyways.

Saul's first major sin

1028 BCE

The first major mistake was offering a specific sacrifice. It was Samuel's job, as a Levite and a priest, but with the other army fast approaching, and his men being terrified and deserting him, he offered it anyways. If he had waited less than a day more, he would have been fine.

David and the harp

1024 BCE

After God had left Saul, he tormented Saul. Saul asked for someone that would help him calm down, and David was brought to him. David was an excellent harp player and God was with him. Because of this, whenever Saul was being tormented David played the harp for him and he calmed down.

David and Goliath

1024 BCE

One day Jesse (David's father) told him to bring supplies to his brothers who were fighting in a war. When he got there the giant goliath was mocking the people of Israel and daring one of them to come fight him. He said that the winner would become the master of the losers. David volunteered to go against him and after some debate and armor rejection later, he did. He, of course, won. It was a crushing defeat the Philistines that day.

David annointed

1024 BCE

God told Samuel to stop mourning over Saul's mistake. He told him to go out and anoint a new king. He brought Samuel to David and Samuel anointed him. Even though David was just a shepherd boy he was a man after God's own heart. Samuel told the household not to tell anyone that David had been anointed so that Saul wouldn't hear about it and get mad. (for God had left Saul and an evil spirit was tormenting him) David continued to play the harp for him.

David's Battles

1012 BCE

David fought in many battles during his kinghood. Even before he was crowned, the David and Goliath story happened. So, during his reign he was very well-know for his battles. (especially his mighty man)

Saul's second sin

1011 BCE

The second major sin that Saul committed was disobeying God by failing to completely destroy the Amalekites and all their possessions. God had commanded him to 'utterly destroy' them. But he saved some of the best animals and the king. When Samuel confronted him, he lied and said that he'd saved them for sacrifices.

Saul is rejected

1010 BCE

After the sins that saul had committed, Samuel told Saul that the Lord had rejected him. He also told him that God would anoint a 'man after God's own heart' to take his place and Saul's sins would be told all over Israel. Saul seemed more upset about everyone knowing his sin then the fact that he wouldn't be king anymore because he had rejected God

Saul and the medium

After Samuel's death and God leaving Saul, Saul was in trouble.He didn't have anybody to tell what to do anymore. At one point he needed to know whether or not to go into battle. He was desperate so he contacted a witch and asked her to bring Samuel up. She did, and Samuel said that he'd lose. He went into battle anyways. He lost

Saul's death

1009 BCE

After all that had happened with Saul, his death was kind of a disappointment. In a battle with the Philistines, they were fast approaching. Saul didn't want to be killed by them so he committed suicide on his own sword, the philistines took his body.

David crowned

1008 BCE

After saul died, David was anointed king. During Saul's reign, Saul had continuously chased after David with the intent to kill him. He was jealous because the people really liked David, and David had been winning many battles. But as soon as Saul died, David still mourned after him. Especially after he learned Jonathan (saul's son) had been killed as well.

Consequences

993 BCE

Because David had done this horrible thing to his best friend, there were, of course, consequences. A prophet came to David and told him a story about a pet sheep. David was furius and said the man deserve death. THe prophet then revealed that David WAS this man. David went into a state of dread. He repented and cried to the Lord, and the Lord decided to spare him. Instead of him dying, his and Bathsheba's son died.

David's first sin

993 BCE

One day, while the rest of his army was out fighting, David was out on his roof top. Down below he saw a beautiful woman taking a bath. After inquiring about her, he found out that she was the wife of one of his best friends. He called her to the palace and committed adultery with her. Soon, he got a letter saying that she was pregnant. David brought the husband home and tried to stage it as it have been the husband but failed every time. Eventually he just killed the husband.

Solomon is born

990 BCE

Solomon is born to Bathsheba and David and David promises to make him the next king

David's second sin

979 BCE

David's second sin was counting his people. Someone had made a covenant with God, promising that they wanted take a census of the people. The problem with this is that if he knew how many people he had in his army, he would be confident in his army. He would put faith in his big army and not on god. He knew he wasn't supposed to do it, and directly after he had done it he felt remorse.

Solomon Crowned

969 BCE

After Adonijah tries to steal his kingdom, Solomon is made king. He is is also asked by David to kill certain people and bless others (which he does)

Preparing for temple

969 BCE

Getting a crazy amount of materials, cedar, gold, silver, stone, timber, etc. Just a crazy amount for the temple. And then David still told him to get more and to work

David's death

968 BCE

David died of natural causes soon after. He is believed to have died from old age. It is good that he didn't die in a similar fashion to his father-in-law (Saul). Before he died, he gave Solomon a crazy amount of materials to build the temple for the Lord.

King of Tyre (Hiram)

967 BCE

Hiram gives Solomon a lot of cedar wood and other materials and Solomon gave him a lot of food. He also said it was great that David had such a wise son over his great people

Solomon asks for wisdom

967 BCE

He asked God for an understanding mind’ that could discern between good and evil. GOd was very pleased that he had not been selfish and had not asked for riches, a long life, or military strength. , He gave Solomon what he asked for. Solomon asked for an understanding mind. He started it off by saying that he was ‘but a child’ and that he didn’t know much and i think he was offended by what David had said too all the leaders. He thanked God by giving him sacrifices in the morning.

Solomon's Palace is built

To build they needed a lot of hard manual labour. there was still peace among the land as they were building this

Solomon's temple built

A crazy amount of materials are used and there is peace among the land during the process.

Ark brought to the temple

966 BCE

All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon during the festival ...When all Israel’s elders had arrived, the priests lifted the ark.The priests and Levites carried the ark of the Lord, the tent of meeting, and all the holy items in the tent.King Solomon and all the Israelites who had assembled with him went on ahead of the ark and sacrificed more sheep and cattle than could be counted or numbered."

She heard about Solomon's wisdom and wealth. She asked him a bunch of hard questions and he could answer them all. He showed her all the stuff he had and she said that he was even more weally and even more wise than all the extreme rumours she had been told.

Solomon's Fall

939 BCE

Solomon took 700 wives and 300 concubines. Many of the wives were from foreign lands, the people there didn't worship God. Soon he was swept up in their ways and he worshipped the foreign gods to. This led to his demise. God promised that it wouldn't be taken away from him during his reign but during his son's

Solomon's Death

931 BCE

"After a reign of forty years, he dies of natural causes at around 60 years of age" Basically he died of old age.

Jeroboam and Rehoboam

913 BCE

He took the bad counsel of the young men instead of the elders’ good counsel. He said that he would be way stricter than his father had been.
Of course, the people were angered and rebelled.
Then rehoboam fought against the people who had rebelled to try and get them to come back.
some children also died along the way.
