Saul Tries to Sacrifice

3456 BCE

In battle Saul fears that they are going to lose to the Philistines so he calls for Samuel to make a sacrifice to the Lord. Saul then gets impatient and makes his own sacrifice but God punishes him.

Samuel's birth

1129 BCE

Before his birth Hannah his mother was begging God to give her a son because her husbands other wife had many sons. When God gave her Samuel she rejoiced and gave him back to God.

Samuel Hears God

1122 BCE

As Samuel is sleeping in the tabernacle he hears a voice calling to him. He thinks it's Eli calling him so he goes to him. This happens a couple more times until finally Eli tells him it's God and Samuel listens and hears and receives a prophecy from God.

Eli's Death

1099 BCE

Before his death Eli had been training Samuel to work in the tabernacle.

Saul Anointed King

1053 BCE

Saul was out trying to find his father's donkeys when Samuel anointed him the first king of Israel. He was a farmer who was handsome and a head taller than anyone else. Saul was humble, kind, and compassionate but later in his reign he was the opposite of those things.

Jonathan Eats the Forbidden Honey

1042 BCE

When the Israelites are at war again Saul makes a rash vow to God that no one can eat anything until the battle is done. Jonathan his son doesn't hear this vow so he eats some honey that is in a forest. Saul eventually finds out and wants to kill him but the people say no.

Jonathan Fights the Philistines

1042 BCE

Jonathan is tired of waiting to fight the Philistines so he and his sword bearer go and fight them. There are a lot of Philistines and only two of them but because God was with Jonathan and his sword bearer they killed some of them and the rest ran away.

David Anointed King

1028 BCE

Since Saul is failing as a king, God sends Samuel to anoint David as the new king. But Saul is not willing to give up the throne to somebody else while he is still living because of his selfishness. So David only lives in the palace as a king when he's older.

David Kills a Lion and Bear

1027 BCE

When David is watching his sheep and a bear and a lion come along he kills them and saves his sheep. This is the first proof that God is with David throughout his life.

David and Goliath

1025 BCE

David is shepherding in the fields when his dad tells him to go bring food to his brothers who are at battle. When David gets there he sees that they have to send a single man to go and defeat a giant whose name is Goliath. David goes and kills him with a sling shot and a smooth stone.

Saul Chases David

1024 BCE

Saul begins to see that David is beginning to get popular with the people of Israel. So Saul gets very angry and tries to kill David in many ways and a big one is when he chases David in the wilderness.

Jonathan warns David

1023 BCE

Saul is chasing David so Jonathan goes and helps David out by sending him a message with arrows. David learns that Saul wants to kill him and him and Jonathan part ways.

Saul Dies

1010 BCE

After being king for 40 years Saul died and David became king.

David's Kindness

997 BCE

David had promised Jonathan that he would be have mercy on his descendants. So when David finds out that Mephibosheth, Jonathan's son, is still alive he sends for him to live in the palace.

Amnon Dies

987 BCE

Absalom is very mad at Amnon because he treated his sister very badly. So Absalom has a party after the sheep shearing and kills Amnon. David then grieves because he thinks it's his fault.

David Runs from Abasalom

978 BCE

Absalom, David's eldest son takes over the kingdom and threatens to kill David so David takes his mighty men and other close people and runs away. But David still has connections in Jerusalem. He sends two priests too go and be his spies in the tabernacle. He also has the king's adviser give foolish advice.

Solomon Crowned King

970 BCE

David is slowly dying so Abishag is sent to take care of him. Adonijah sees this and rebels because he wants to be king. Joab and Abithar follow Adonijah. Bethsheba and Nathan talk to David because Solomon is supposed to be king next. So Solomon is crowned and kills Shimei, Joab and Adonijah.

David's Charge

970 BCE

David helps Solomon get ready for building the temple by giving him a lot of stuff right before his death. Then his last words to Solomon is blessing him and commands the leaders of Israel to help Solomon.

David Dies

970 BCE

After reigning for 40 years he hands his kingdom over to Solomon.

Solomon's Reign

Period: 970 BCE to 930 BCE

Solomon reigned after David and was David's son.

Solomon asks for Wisdom

969 BCE

God asks Solomon what he wants and Solomon gets wisdom. Solomon wanted to rule the kingdom well but he made many many mistakes. The first thing he did after he got wisdom was go against the first command given in the Bible for kings.

Solomon's Wisdom

967 BCE

Two prostitutes came to Solomon and one of the prostitute's son had died. Solomon says to cut the baby in half and the one lady agrees. But the real mother says to give the baby to other lady. So Solomon sees that and gives the baby to the real mother.

King Hiram

965 BCE

Solomon makes a treaty with the king of Tyre, King Hiram sent him wood through the Mediterranean Sea. King Hiram also sent laborers to help.

Jeroboam Gets a Prophecy

960 BCE

Jeroboam is made ruler over the tribe of Joseph. Ahijah the prophet comes and tells him he's going to be king over 10 tribes and Rehoboam over 1. Solomon tries to kill him so Jeroboam flees to Egypt.

Temple Dedication

959 BCE

When the temple is finished, they sacrifice so many animals that they can not count them. The ark of the covenant is brought in and God's presence comes down to the temple in the form of a cloud. Solomon prays and the temple is dedicated.

Solomon's Wealth

955 BCE

Solomon's officials prepared all year for one month to make a looooot of food each day for Solomon's wives, children, army, servants, horses, and himself. The Queen of Sheba came to Solomon to test him and brought a lot of wealth with her. She was shocked because of Solomon's wisdom and gave him a lot more riches.

Solomon and his Idols

950 BCE

After Solomon dedicates the temple he falls further and further into sin and starts following after his wives' idols.

Queen of Sheba

945 BCE

The queen of Sheba hears about the wisdom of Solomon. When she comes she is not disappointed and is amazed with him.

Jeroboam's Fall

931 BCE

God sent a prophet to Jeroboam saying that his altars would be destroyed by his son Josiah. Jeroboam tried to grab the prophet but his hand got shriveled up.

Kingdom Splits

931 BCE

After Solomon dies the kingdom splits because the throne is fought over and then Israel goes separate from Judah.

Jeroboam's Reign

Period: 931 BCE to 910 BCE

Before his actual reign he got a prophecy would be king. So he got the people to rebel against Rehoboam and Jeroboam was crowned king over Israel.

Rehoboam's Reign

Period: 931 BCE to 913 BCE

Reigned over Judah after the split. Refused to listen to the wise console of the elders and listened to the younger ones.

Jeroboam's Idols

928 BCE

Jeroboam was made king and wanted Israel to stay in his place and not go down to Jerusalem where Rehoboam was to worship God. So Jeroboam built two golden calves, one in the north and one in the south, so that they would stay with him and he would keep his power.

Jeroboam's Son Gets Sick

927 BCE

Jeroboam's son gets sick so he disguised his wife to Ahijah the prophet who had before prophesied that Jeroboam would be king. Ahijah prophecies that Jeroboam's son will die. So all Israel mourns because the child had died as soon as the wife gets home.

King Rehoboam at War

925 BCE

Rehoboam fortified Judah's cities so that the Israelites couldn't attack them. He made the Levites priests for his idols. He married many wives and concubines and split them up with their children throughout the cities. In his fifth year

Abijah's Reign

Period: 913 BCE to 911 BCE

Reigned in Judah for 3 years. Bad king

Asa's Reign

Period: 911 BCE to 869 BCE

After Abijah died Asa started to rule. He did good in the sight of the Lord and God rescued him from his enemies the Ethiopians and reigned for 41 years. He breaks down all the idols and dethrowns his grandmother. Asa then doesn't trust God and for a punishment got a disease in his feet and only trusted in the doctors. Reigned in Judah

Nadab's Reign

Period: 910 BCE to 909 BCE

Reigns in Israel after His dad Jeroboam. bad and reigned for 2 years

Baasha's Reign

Period: 909 BCE to 886 BCE

Baasha was Nadab's commander and rebeled against him. He took the throne and was evil. He then got a prophecy that all his relatives would die from dogs or birds. Reigned over Israel.

Elijah

Period: 904 BCE to 850 BCE

He did a bunch of miracles and trained Elisha. Was taken up in a chariot of fire. Prophesied during the reign of Ahab king of Judah.

Elah's Reign

Period: 887 BCE to 885 BCE

Israel's king and was very bad. He was killed by his servant Zimri.

Omri's Reign

Period: 885 BCE to 841 BCE

Reigned in Israel and was more evil than all the kings before him. Also changed where the capital was.

Elisha

Period: 885 BCE to 798 BCE

He was a prophet who took over after Elijah. He had double the spirit of Elijah and did twice as many miracles.

Zimri's Reign

Period: 885 BCE to 885 BCE

When he killed Elah, Omri was anointed king and came and fought Zimri for seven days before Zimri burnt himself in the palace.

Ahab's Reign

Period: 874 BCE to 853 BCE

Ahab was the worst king that Israel has had so far. He only repented once and that was when his family and himself was threatened. Even after he repented he still went back to his evil ways.

Jehoshaphat's Reign

Period: 870 BCE to 845 BCE

Jehoshaphat was a very good king who trusted in God and followed after him. He destroyed all the idols and appointed priests and Levites to teach Judah what was right. He also put judges in place. His only mistakes was the treaties he made with Ahab and Ahab's son. The first one was a marriage alliance with Ahab's daughter. The second for ships that God didn't like so he destroyed them.

Elijah Stops the Drought

866 BCE

God started the drought because Ahab was not listening to God and not worshipping him. But after Mt. Carmel God gave rain again.

Mt. Carmel

866 BCE

Elijah tested Ahab to a match of whose God was more powerful. The false prophets started out and tried to get Baal's attention but no fire came. Elijah made fun of them and they started cutting themselves to no avail. Then it was Elijah's turn and he drenched his altar in water. He prayed to God and God sent fire from heaven that ate up the altar.

Jehoram

Period: 854 BCE to 848 BCE

Jehoram was Jehoshaphat's son and reined over Judah. His wife was Ahab's daughter.

Ahab's Death

853 BCE

Because he refused to listen to the Lord and went into battle, he died by a randomly shot arrow.

Ahaziah's Reign

Period: 853 BCE to 852 BCE

He was the son of Ahab. Reigned in Israel and was very bad.

Jehoshaphat's singing battle

852 BCE

Lots of people were coming against Judah and they were all scared. Jehazeal prophecied that they would win without lifting their fingers. So they went into battle singing and won.

Jehoram's Reign

Period: 852 BCE to 848 BCE

He was the son of Ahab. He wasn't as bad as his parents but still didn't follow God. Reigned in Israel

Naboth's Vineyard

848 BCE

Ahab was looking out his window when he saw a beautiful vineyard that looked like it could be a great vegetable garden for him and all the people that belonged to him. So he went to the owner who's name was Naboth and asked him for saying in return he'd give him any land he wanted. But Naboth said no because it was in his family. So Ahab pouted and Jezebel ordered Naboth to be framed and killed. After that Ahab got the vineyard but was cursed by Elijah because of his greediness.

Naaman's Healing

843 BCE

Naaman was the commander of the Syrian army but was sick with leprosy. His servant girl said that Elisha in Israel could heal him. So Naaman went with many gifts to Elisha and dipped in the Jordan 7 times and was healed.

Chariots of Fire

840 BCE

The Syrian army wanted to kill Elisha because he knew all their plans. So they tried to sneak up on him but Elisha knew that the army of God was surrounding them. Elisha prayed to God and the Syrian army went blind and Elisha led them to the capital and fed them supper then sent them home.

Hazael

839 BCE

The king of Syria was sick when Elisha was in Damascus. So the king sent Hazael to ask Elisha if the king would recover. Elisha said that he would but Hazael would kill him and would be a very bad king his place.

Jehu Reigns

Period: 837 BCE to 819 BCE

In the beginning When Jehu was anointed he was very good. He killed all the bad people and also all the people of Baal. Israel.

Athaliah Reign's

Period: 837 BCE to 830 BCE

After she heard that her son died she killed all the king's household and reigned as queen in Judah. She was a very evil queen bc her parents were Ahab and Jezebel.

Ahaziah

Period: 836 BCE to 837 BCE

He was very evil and walked in the ways of Ahab. King of Judah.

Athaliah's Death

830 BCE

She was stoned to death after she came to protest in the temple that Joash shouldn't become king.

Joash's Reign

Period: 830 BCE to 790 BCE

Joash was hid from Athaliah and after she was killed he became king. His adopted dad the high priest consoled him but when he died Joash became bad. king of Judah

Jehoahaz Reigns

Period: 819 BCE to 802 BCE

He was a very bad king. Son of Jehu. When Hazel went against them he called on the Lord and the Lord sent a savior to save them. Even after that he was still bad. By the end of his reign he barely has an army. Reigned in Israel

Joash Stones Zechariah

804 BCE

Since Joash was not following the Lord, God sent his cousin to tell him that he needed help but Joash did not listen and stoned him

Jehoash Reigns

Period: 802 BCE to 786 BCE

Son of Jehoahaz. King of Israel. Very bad. Through his entire reign he fights with the Syrians. So he goes to Elisha who's on his death bed. He shoots an arrow randomly out the window. Then Elisha says to strike the ground with the extra arrows.

Amaziah's Reign

Period: 790 BCE to 761 BCE

He reigned after his dad Joash in Israel. He was a good king in the beginning and then at the end he goes bad. He kills all the people that killed his dad. He fights against the Edomites and wants the Israelites to help him. God says no but Amaziah doesn't listen. But then he does. He takes over the Edomites and worships their gods. Then a while later he fights with Israel and loses. He was executed by conspirers bc he lost battles.

Jeroboam's Reign

Period: 786 BCE to 745 BCE

Reigned in Israel and was very bad. He took back some of the original kingdom.

Zechariah's Reign

745 BCE

He reigned in Israel and was evil. Reigned for six months. Killed by Shallum.

Shallum's Reign

745 BCE

Reigned in Israel and was very bad. Reigned one month. Killed by Menahem

Menahem's Reign

Period: 745 BCE to 735 BCE

Reigned in Israel and was very bad. A king came up against him and Menahem gave him money so that he would stay in power.

Pekahiah's Reign

Period: 735 BCE to 733 BCE

He reigned in Israel and was very bad. Pekah his captain came against him and killed him.

Pekah's Reign

Period: 733 BCE to 713 BCE

He reigned in Israel and was very bad. The king of Assryia captured a bunch of land. Killed by Hoshea.

Assyria Takes Over Israel

713 BCE

God lets Assyria come in and conquer Israel. They torture them and make them slaves.

Hoshea's Reign

Period: 713 BCE to 661 BCE

Reigned in Judah. Was good. Went to war with the Philistines and God helped him win many battles. He then grew proud and started doing wrong. Got leprosy.

Ahaz's Reign

Period: 686 BCE to 670 BCE

Was a bad king who reigned in Judah. Worshiped a lot of idols and because of that God sent Syria to conquer them. Israel then took captives but a prophet told them they shouldn't kill them all. So they sent them back with the spoil. Ahaz moved the altar of the Lord.

Hezekiah's Reign

Period: 670 BCE to 641 BCE

Hezekiah was a good king who followed after God and tore down idols, repaired the temple, and did a great Passover. But in the end he grew proud and suffered consequences. in Judah

Hezekiah's Passover

665 BCE

It was the first actual Passover since Solomon's day.

Uzziah's Reign

Period: 661 BCE to 609 BCE

Uzziah reigned in Israel for 52 years and was good except he had one big mistake. He tried to burn incense and 82 priests came and told him not to. He got angry and because of that he got leprosy.

Hezekiah's Sickness

656 BCE

Hezekiah then got sick and was going to die. He prayed to God to extend his years because he didn't have a son. So God turned the sun backward.

Battle with the Assyrians

655 BCE

Assyria came to conquer Judah and Isaiah tried to reassure Hezekiah. The king was threatening them and going to take over all their cities. He sent a messenger with an open letter throughout Judah to Hezekiah. Hezekiah took the letter and went into the temple and prayed to God. So the Lord sent the angel of the Lord to go destroy all the army.

Hezekiah and Babylon

655 BCE

Babylon comes to visit Hezekiah and he shows off his kingdom and because of that Babylon will come and destroy them.

Isaiah

Period: 650 BCE to 590 BCE

Prophecied a lot about Hezekiah.

Manasseh's Reign

Period: 641 BCE to 586 BCE

He was a really bad king who worshipped any idols that he found plus demons and other things. So God sent Assyria to take him away. Then he repented there and God heard him and delivered him.

Jotham's Reign

Period: 609 BCE to 593 BCE

Reigned in Judah. Nothing bad about him is said anywhere. Stayed away from his father's sin.

Amon's Reign

Period: 586 BCE to 584 BCE

He was as evil as his dad and reigned in Judah. His servants were so done with him that they just killed him.

Josiah's Reign

Period: 584 BCE to 533 BCE

He was very good and worshipped God in Judah.

Josiah tears down the Idols

576 BCE

In his eight year he tears down all the idols and bad stuff. Then he goes to Israel and destroys all their idols including the golden calves. He burns the bones of the priests on their altars.

Josiah Repairs the Temple

566 BCE

In his eighteenth year he repairs the temple and they find the Book of the Scroll. Josiah is terrified and sends someone to Huldah to see if they will be cursed because of their sins. She says they will but it won't happen in his days. Josiah responds by reading the book out loud to all the people. So Josiah sacrifices to God.

Josiah Dies

533 BCE

Egypt declares war on Israel but Josiah says they shouldn't bc he will fight them. The Pharaoh says no bc they will be fighting against the Lord. But Josiah disguises himself and goes into battle and dies by a randomly shot arrow.

Jehoahaz's Reign

533 BCE

Reigned three months in Judah after his father Josiah. Was a bad king. He was deposed of by the Pharaoh and replaced with his brother Jehoiakim. Was then carried off to Egypt.

Jehoiakim's Reign

Period: 533 BCE to 522 BCE

Reigned in Judah and was evil. Was taken away by Nebuchadnezzar.

Jehoiachin's Reign

522 BCE

Reigned 3 months and 10 days in Judah. Was very evil. Was taken by the Babylonian king. Son of Jehoiakim

Zedekiah's Reign

Period: 522 BCE to 511 BCE

Reigned in Judah. Was evil and rebelled against Babylon.

Gedaliah

511 BCE

Was governor who was pretty good. He followed what Babylon said. He was also Jeremeiah's friend.
