Safely made it to France and he wrote a letter to his mother to tell her that he had made it safely and not to worry about his because he is in good hands -
The Flower
William Sent his mother a dried flower and a letter for mother's day. In his letter, he talks about how he hopes the war will end soon. He thinks the Germans are going to give up soon because they have lost a lot of people. He talks about what it will be like to be headed back home. -

Sent his mother a letter letting her know he was coming home. He explains they planned on leaving earlier however, they had a few more jobs to do before they left. He talks about how excited he is to have eggs and bacon for breakfast after having "canned willie" for nine months. It sounds like life is a lot more enjoyable now that they are leaving and headed back home. -
