Buffett enrolles at Columbia Business School to study under Benjamin Graham - an economist and investor. He then earns his master's degree and sold his securities for Buffett-Falk & Company for three years and worked for Graham for two years at Graham-Newman Corp. -
Warren's New Buisness
After forming the firm Buffett Partnership Ltd. in his hometown of Omaha in 1956, he was successful in identifying undervauled companies and became a millionaire. Most of the tecniques he learned came from his "mentor" Graham. Warren valued Berkshire Hathaway (a textile company).He then began accumulating stock in the early 1960s, and by 1965 he had assumed control of the company. -
Warren the Director
Warren becomes the director of the company after Berkshire Hathaway's significant investment in Coca-Cola. He stayed as the Director from 1989 until 2006. He has also served as director of Citigroup Global Markets Holdings, Graham Holdings Company and The Gillette Company. -
New Wife
Warren marries Astrid Menks after quickly recovering from his last wife's death in 2006. Apparently it only takes two years to grieve your wife's death and then marry someone else. -
Good Deeds
Warren donates his entire fortune to charity committing 85 percent of it to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This donation became the largest act of charitable giving in United States history. Later in 2010, Buffett and Gates announced they had formed The Giving Pledge campaign to recruit more wealthy individuals for philanthropic causes. -
Cancer's a B-Word
Warren announces that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and starts his radiation treatment. He successfully completes his treatment in November that same year. -
Drive2Vote
Warren creates Drive2Vote, a web site to encourage the people of Nebraska to vote, and to assist in registering and driving voters to a polling location if they needed a ride. He's a supporter of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
