  Vincent van Gogh is born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert, a village in the southern Netherlands.

  His parents send him to Amsterdam to become a priest.

  In January 1879, he becomes a missionary in Belgium.
 - 
  
  Van Gogh's parents think that he is crazy and want to send him to hospital.

  He starts to paint.

  Vincent starts to use oil and watercolors to paint. Vincent starts his own studio.

  On March 26, 1885 Vincent van Gogh's father dies of a heart attack.

  Vincent finishes his first major work, "The Potato Eaters."

  He paints "Bridges across the Seine".

  Vincent paints "Plum Tree in the Blossom" Here he shows his love for the Japanese arts.

  Vincent paints "The Vase With Twelve Sunflowers".

  Van Gogh has a fight with his friend. He is so upset that he cuts off the bottom part of his left ear. The picture here is a self-portrait with his damaged ear.

  Van goes to stay in a hospital. Here he paints the famous picture "The Starry Night".

  He paints his last picture called "Daubigny's Garden".

  Van Gogh's mental illness became very bad and he stopped painting. On July 27, 1890 he walked into a field and shot himself in the chest.
