  • Lincoln's Assassination

    *On April 14, 1865 John Wilkes Booth fatally shot president Lincoln
    *After Booth shot Lincoln in the head he leapt from the presidential box and fled
    *Lincoln was taken across the street for medical help where he died the following day
    *Eventually Booth was found and killed while trying to flee a group of Union Soldiers

  • Black Codes

    *Black codes were made by southerners after the civil war
    *They restricted rights for blacks
    * Some of the things blacks couldn't do because of black codes was vote, marry, or own guns

  • Ku Klux Klan Part A

    Past and Present:
    *Formed in Pulaski, Tennessee 1865
    *Started as a club for former confederate soldiers
    *The KKK then evolved into a terrorist organization

    *Their main goal was to regain power in the south and take it away from blacks and republicans
    *Intimidated republicans by terrorizing and murdering their leaders in the the south
    *Although the group was more aggressive in the past the KKK is still around today and is still a racial hate group

    *First impeachment in U.S. history
    * Main reason for impeachment was that he didn't primarily focus on blacks rights

  • Honus Wagner begins his career

    Honus Wagner begins his career
    He played his first few seasons with the Louisville Colonels but then played 21 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Honus is one of the greatest players of all time. In his career he has played every position on the field aside from catcher. He was an amazing all around payer and in 1905 he was the first player to have his name engraved on the side of a Louisville Slugger bat.

  • Eddie Collins

    Eddie Collins
    He was a great baseball player that was a major threat on the bases. He also had a great batting eye and could pull outside pitches. Collins would study the pitcher to time his steals because he believed that was the right way to steal. He began his career in 1906 with Chicago. In his first full season he played over a hundred games and had a .273 batting average.

    Taft starts a baseball tradition
    Taft threw the season's first pitch to the Senators' pitcher Walter Johnson, who went on to lead the team to a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Athletics. Since Taft, every president after him has thrown at least opening day pitch.

    Grover Alexander
    Grover had 373 wins over his 19 years in the MLB. He had twelve siblings and worked on his family's farm as a corn husker for many years before he discovered baseball. Alexander had an amazing curveball that greatly helped him in baseball as a hall of fame pitcher.

  • 1918 World Series

    1918 World Series
    Because of World War 1 the World Series had to be played entirely in September when the government called for the season to be over by Labor Day. The series was between the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox, with the help of the one and only Babe Ruth won the series 3-2.

    * 51 percent of white male voters in the south to pledge allegiance to the Union
    *Former confederate soldiers and officials wouldn't be granted pardon
    *The thirteenth amendment had to be ratified
