  • Booker T. Washington

    Washington created the National Negro Business League to support back businesses. He did it to give black business owners the same rights as white business owners. He believed that black Americans should focus on improving mentally to gain respect

  • Marcus Garvey

    Garvey founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association. Just like T. Washington he helped found black businesses. By the 1920s he had already helped open many small black businesses like small restaurants or supermarkets. He also urged black people to be proud of their heritage and their race, this had a huge impact on the ordinary black folk but especially poor black people. During his campaign he also created many slogans thqt were also later used in other movements,
  • Paul Roberson

    Robeson gained usccess as an actor and singer and during his life he opposed gainast the unfariness against black people at the time. He also talked to the presidet about making lynching illegal, he dedin't succeed
  • The NAACP

    The Nation Association for the Advancements of colored People (NAACP) was founded to fights against Lynching and the Jim Crow laws. Thurgood Marshall was part of the Association, he was a lawyer and used the law to fight segregation in schools. They argued that a black student could attend a white school near her home instead of having to travel for many kilometres to attend a black school. the court ruled in favour and in the followig years
