Infancy
As young Adam reached the age of 6 months his mother began placing him in his crib and leaving him for the night. But each morning she'd come back to his crib and pick him up and hold him until he no longer feared these temporary absences. In Erikson's first stage of trust vs. mistrust consistent care is required for the infant to develop a sense of security with their environment and others -
A grande task
At the age of 3 young Adam begins getting up in the morning and pouring his own cereal, as time goes on his mother leaves him out different ingredients for him to start preparing his own lunches as wells. This incident showcases the fine line of Erik's second stage of autonomy vs shame and doubt. By encouraging his independence, with little criticism on his messy mistakes Adam gains confidence and becomes more self reliant. -

As preschool begins young Adam of age 4 1/2 is invited out to the playground by the teacher, there he finds three young children surrounding the monkey bars, he suggests a game of hot lava and they happily follow his example. In the third Erikson stage of initiative vs guilt, Adam took the lead and socialized with his peers, forming a relationship with others allowing him find develop leadership qualities and find a sense of purpose.
