Martin Luther
Martin Luther had a big impact on this age. He is well known for The Ninety-Five Theses which was posted around 1517, and for standing up against the church. This began a large movement because people were no longer afraid to stand up against the church. He also distrubuted Bibles in different laguages so that people could read it for themselves rather than having to believe everyuthing the preists and popes told them. -
Deism
First found in 1675, this was an idea that God set the Earth to motion then left it to work on its own. Off of this a new form of Christianity was formed, Deism, It was not very popular and belived Jesus was just a good roll model. -
Montesquieu
Montesquieu was famous for his theory of separation of powers. He was also largley responsible for the terms feudalism and Byzantine Empire. Feudalism is a set of legal and military terms, and Byzantine Empire is refering to the Roman Empire in the Middle Ages. -

Franklin is one of the Founding Fathers. He was a leading author, printer, political theorist, politician, postmaster, scientist, musician, inventor, satirist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. As a scientist he was a major figure with his ideas and therories about electricity. -

Rousseau born in 1712, became a philosopher, writer, and 18th century Romantisim composer. His political philsophy was very influential with the modern political thinking. -
Denis Diderot
Diderot was born in 1713. He was a prominent French philosopher, art critic, and writer.He was co-founder and cheif editior of the Encyclopédie. -
Voltaire
François-Marie Arouet aquired his author name, Voltaire, in 1718. He was a French Enlighenment writer who was also a historian and philosopher. He wrote anything from play to scientific works.His ideas influenced important people of American and French Revolutions. -
Physiocracy
Phyisiocracy believed in natural order, individualism, private property, diminishing returns, and investment capital.Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours was a prominate physiocrat of this time. -
Adam Smith
Adam Smith was a moral philsopher. He is well known for The Theory of Moral Sentiments, and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. Later aberviated as The Wealth of Nations is considered the first modern work of econmics.
