John Garibaldi's first letter was written in Camp Stevenson, where he wrote to his fiance. He was talking about how glad he was that Christmas was good, and that they start fighting soon. John also talks about the few people that were killed/injured, and he was fine. -

John Garibaldi is writing after the Batlle of Chancellorsville. He says that this battle was a long and hot one, and there are lots of men falling on both sides. He is upset about a probable battle, and doesn't want to lose anymore people. -

John Garibaldi is writing this letter to his wife, telling her that he will not be able to write for a whille because they will be marching. There is not much news from the front, and he wishes to send more money to the family soon. -

John Garibaldi talks about how he marched across the Potomac River again. During the battle, one of the lieutenants were badly wounded, and many soldiers lost their lives. He is upset that his wife hasn't sent any letters back for two weeks, and is curious of her health. -

John Garibaldi was camping two and a half miles from the Orange Courthouse. It was almost fall, and he asked his wife to send him gloves, socks, and soap. He is glad that the amount paid for corn and other foods is low, and the three rations he gets a day are enough. -

He is also happy about the good news from the family and friends, and hopes to see them soon. John Garibaldi is taking a break from war, and has nothing exciting to do for a few weeks. -
