    Carlos had two older brothers: Luis I and Fernando VI. Luis I was only 17 yeas old when he became king of Spain. After 229 days he died. His dad Felipe V reigned again until his death in 1746. Then Fernando VI began to rule.

    In Spain, he tried to improve the services and facilities of his people. He also carried out a number of public works and routes that led to the capital of Madrid. There he constructed the Puerta de Alcalá, he redesigned the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid and he renowned Museo del Prado. He was nicknamed the Best Mayor of Madrid, "el rey alcalde".

    María Amalia de Sajonia died due to tuberculosis. She died at The Buen Retiro Palace and she is buried in El Escorial. Carlos III never married again..
