Luis I, his older brother died
Carlos had two older brothers: Luis I and Fernando VI. Luis I was only 17 yeas old when he became king of Spain. After 229 days he died. His dad Felipe V reigned again until his death in 1746. Then Fernando VI began to rule. -
The year he became the Duke of Parma and Piacenza
When Carlos was 15 years old, he moved to Italia to became the Duke of Parma and Piacenza. This place was a small state and it does not exist now. Here is a picture of the flag. -
The year he became King of Naples and Sicily
In 1734 he became king of Naples and Sicily. In Italy he was known as Carlo VII. He tried to modernize and unify the kingdom. This picture is Carlos III in those years. -

His wife was María Amalia Walburga de Sajonia. They got married and then they had a celebration months later. María Amalia was 14 years old in 1738. -
The year he became King of Spain
Fernando VI inherited the crown in 1746 and he died in 1759. This year Carlos III returned to Madrid and he was crowned king. -

Summary of his reign in Spain
In Spain, he tried to improve the services and facilities of his people. He also carried out a number of public works and routes that led to the capital of Madrid. There he constructed the Puerta de Alcalá, he redesigned the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid and he renowned Museo del Prado. He was nicknamed the Best Mayor of Madrid, "el rey alcalde". -
Year and cause of death of his wife
María Amalia de Sajonia died due to tuberculosis. She died at The Buen Retiro Palace and she is buried in El Escorial. Carlos III never married again.. -
Seven Years´ War
The Seven Years´ War began in 1756. Spain joined to this war with France against England in 1761. Seven years after its beginning, the Anglo-prusian coalition got the victory. All the countries signed a treaty in 1763 (La Paz de París). -

Carlos III died in 1788 aged 72. He is buried in the Royal Palace of Madrid. His sucessor was his son Carlos IV -
One famous monument of Carlos III
Many years after his death (in 1994) as a tribute of his reign a sculptor made the "Estatua ecuestre" of Carlos III. This statue is placed in Madrid. Here is a short video of it.
