The setting was in the north in a snowy region called The Klondike,which is the eastern border of Canada and Alaska. There was expected gold in the area during the bleak day in January that the events take place. -
Exposition: Characterizaton
The main character was a confident and hard-headed man who did not heed the warnings of others. He was young, strong, and big. He had faith that he was smart and strong enough to handle the cold weather. -
Rising Action
The main character tries to eat his food and notices that the frost against his bare hands numbed his fingers. He was surprised that the frost was so severe and he quickly put his mitten back on his hand. -

When half of the first biscuit was untouched, but the main character could feel himself beginning to chill which was unusual. -

The main character feels the need to wear nose-straps that he normally considers “feminine contraptions”. -

The main character decides to cross a frozen river. -

The river broke while the main character was walking across it and he felt the cold water on his body. -

After the main character gets out of the river, he decides to build a fire.The snow from the trees falls on the first fire. -

The main character makes the fire and burns his hand. -

The main character makes it home.
