Oda Nobunaga is born in June 23,1534, Owari Province Japan. He was given the name Oda Kichihoshi and he was the son of a minor daimyo Oda nobuhide.

Father's death and the start of Oda Nobunaga

Oda Nobuhide,father of Oda Nobunaga, dies unexpectedly in 1551. Oda Nobunaga was about 16 years old at that time.

Alliance with Tokugawa Ieyasu

Oda Nobunaga entered an alliance with Tokugawa Ieyasu. Tokugawa Ieyasu was a capable daimyo of the neighbouring province of Mikawa at that time.

Marriage to Azai Nagamasa

Oda Nobunaga married his sister Oichi to the Azai Nagamasa, a daimyo in northern Omi province. He did this in order to help him make his way to kyoto later on.

Moving to the city of Gifu

Oda Nobunaga moved to the city of Gifu as he felt that he had secured his rear flank.

Ashikaga Yoshiaki and moving to kyoto

In 1568, Ashikaga Yoshiaki asked Oda Nobunaga for help to drive the miyoshi clan out of kyoto so he can be the shogun. Oda Nobunaga saw the chance to move to kyoto with the excuse of helping Ashikaga Yoshiaki. After that, Oda used Ashikaga as a puppet to consolidate his control over central Japan.

Ending the Ashikaga shogunate

Destroying the Asakura and Azai Clan

Oda Nobunaga successfully destroyed the Asakura and Azai Clan; Azai Nagamasa committed seppuku and sent his wife back to her brother Oda.

Death of Oda Nobunaga

In 1582, June 21, Oda Nobunaga did not expect an attack as he was in his own territory so he was only guarded by a few servants and body guards. Unexpectedly, Ashikaga Mitsuhide rebelled against him and Oda was wounded during the attack. Later, he committed seppuku .
