Michael was indicted by the federal government for taking part in a dogfighting operation. This indictment destroyed his reputation and it made him face possible time in prison for the crime. -

Michael was sentenced to 23 months in prison for his involvement with dog fighting. This sentence had a major effect on him because not only did he have to go to jail, but his football career was put in jeopardy at the time. -

Michael was released from prison on May 21, 2009. He was released two months early because of good behavior. However, he was placed on house arrest following his release. This had a good impact on him though because he was able to get out of jail and he had more freedom since he was out of jail. -

On August 13, 2009 Michael signed a one year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Signing with the team allowed him to try to ressurect his career with a new team after being involved with the dog fighting scandal. -

Michael did an interview with 60 Minutes on August 16, 2009. This alllowed him to explain what he did to the public. It also allowed him to apoligize for making the mistakes that he made with the dog fighting operation he was involved with. -
Named starting quarterback
After being named backup originally, the Eagles named him their starting quartback because their original starting quarterback got injured. This was a great moment for Michael because he finally got his chance to start in the NFL again since the scandal and he got to prove that he could still play the game. -
$100 million dollar contract
Michael excelled as quarterback for the Eagles in 2010. Since he had such a great season, he signed a six year $100 million dollar contract in the offeason. However, he did not make much profit with the contract. When he went to prison because of the dog fighting scandal he became bankrupt so he had to pay off the money he owed with most of the money he got in the contract.
