    At 9 years old, Nobles who hated Mazarin rose in a rebellion, in which Louis was constantly threatened, in fear, hunger, and etc. This lead to his distrust and dislike of nobles that he had for the rest of his life.

    Married Marie-Thérèse of Austria, daughter of King Philip IV of Spain. Even though he was previously in love with Marie Mancini, he married Marie-Thérèse of Austria for political gain.

    The first (there were more) phase of expansion of Versailles. Because of his love for the arts, Louis XIV decided to expand Versailles (it wasn't a palace then) and add to its grandeur. This phase of expansion was mostly paid out of pocket, it was the following one(s) for which Louis XIV raised the peoples taxes.
