Cross gave is first sermon as a tennager at the SpringField Missonary Baptist Church. This probaly led into his beilef in God. I do believe in god and i have preached one as a teenager.

Cross graduated from highschool in 1944 and then went on to go and serve in the U.S. army as a assitant chaplain. Which probaly stressed in the household that schooling leads to success. I am going to graduate form Highschool also.

After John services ended in the army he went and taught haynes public school. He would soon enroll in the Univeristy of Richmond and graadute form college in 1950 with a degree in social science. His degree probbably speaks towards his beliefthe social aspects of life.

He was designated as pastor at the 16th street baptist church in Birmingham, Alabama which was city of conflict at the time. This probably fired up his civil rights battery to start going and thinking of change.

After being inspired by Martin Luther King jr. he invited civil rights leaders to come and meet in the church which made them targeted by Southern segregationist. He believed in King methid and he tried to make a change

Southern segragationist planted a bomb in the church and the bomb went of before youth service. Cross was one of the people who dug through the rubble and found four girls who had died. He believed even more in the fight for civil rights because this disater should not be passed by with no justice

Cross left the 16th street Baptist church to go teach at Alabama state university. His struggle in which he was apart of and he probably believed he could cause a change somewhere else

Cross became the associate paster at the Oakhurst Baptist Church in Georgia. He believed he could still minister to the people so he went and countued to preach

Cross retired and then became a part-time minister and he counciled the youth. He life was closing so he thought he probably beieved he should try and give back to the youth and tell them about the civil right they are goping through

Cross met his wife,Julia Ball, at Virginia Union University and they had four children together.
