    His mother was a religious woman, sent him to a religious school in Texas, but was expelled when he interpreted a version of "My God is Real" (in boogie-woogie style)

    A year later, he recorded versions of country. For several years he performed in clubs of U.S.A. He decided to go to Memphis in order to record at Sun Records. He recorded his first song for the label: End of the Road

    In 1979, Lewis switched to Elektra and produced the critically acclaimed Jerry Lee Lewis, although sales were disappointing.
    In 1986, Lewis was one of the inaugural inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
    In 1989, a major motion picture based on his early life in rock & roll, Great Balls of Fire!
