Jacques Cousteau was born
On June 11, 1910, in Saint-Andre-de-Cuba, France, Jacques Cousteau was born. When he was a child they moved to the US. His father, Daniel Cousteau was an international lawyer and his mother Elizabeth Duranthon who came from a wealthy family, owned wine merchant and landowner. He had a brother named Pierre-Antoine Cousteau. later in his teen years his family moved back to France.

Invented the oxygen mask
He worked with his friend Frenchman, Yves Paul Gaston Le Prieur. It allowed Jacques Cousteau to improve the quality of oxygen distribution. Eventually, he found a better solution than pure air for underwater divers. It was called Aqualung, which worked better for people to breathe underwater longer and not to the point of losing consciousness. The Aqualung was developed in 1943 with his partner Gagnon.

Went to the French Navy
Jacques Cousteau went into the Navy. He supported the Navy and even got an award ****the military cross later on. He worked in engineer for the Navy. Even after the car accident he still help the navy by developing the equipment for navy to be able to be diving.

Jacques Cousteau's Accident
He was in car accident that almost killed him. He survived but his right arm was infected and it was life-threatening. He did not want his arm to be amputated and lived with an infected arm for his entire life. The accident, however, ended Jacques Cousteau's career of being a Navy pilot. He then decided that he would pursue his dream of being a marine biologist. -
Jacques Cousteau's first video he created
After the accident, Jacques Cousteau was swimming underwater at Toulon**** that it inspired him to engineer equipment that could handle underwater. He went into the science field and started his work. When he filmed a video of the sea world with his friend. They got an award for their discovery. This is when Jacques Cousteau started to be recognized. He then rejoined the Navy for research on his invention that later helped the Navy in the war and got the award. -
Jacques Cousteau married Simone Melchior
He married Simone Melchior when he was twenty-six years old and had two children with her. Their names were Jean-Michel and Philipp. Simone Melchior would travel with Cousteau on his ship. His wife died of cancer at 1990. -
Undersea Television
He developed equipment that allowed people to see underwater called Undersea Television with his partner Andre' Laban. Later on he runs an institutions that shows the films and work that Cousteau have done when he was alive. -
Underwater camera
The first camera that he made could go down 35 mm. He kept improving the prototype to make the pictures better and so he could use for diving.

The two men were diving underwater the first time in 350 meters. Jacque created the photographic sled with the partners of Troika and Dr. Harold Edger, to see clearly the result.

Conshelf experiments
off of the cost of Marseilles two men stayed underwater for a week at ten meters depth and was success. Later on he improved his project to be more sturdy and stronger so the newer types could go further deeper in the ocean.

One year after his wife died he remarried Francine. He was in his eighties when he married Francine. -
Jacques Cousteau death
He died on June25, because of a heart attack. He died in Pairs where he was barred at his birth town at age 87 and was called Commander Cousteau Street. Before he died his son wanted to use his name in the commercials but Cousteau turned him down.
