first feature act
After being kicked out of high school, opening his own carpet sales business he became a stand up comedian at 'Yuk Yuk's in Toronto getting his booking as a week long feature act in 1978. -
The beggining
On a trip to L.A. he performed at a comedy store which resulted in him being a regular performer there. A producer later saw him performing and booked him for several episodes on 'Make Me Laugh', after that he opened for David Letterman and got signed onto a cbc tv special. -

In 1982 Howie had a 6 year run on the show St. Peters, he later voiced gizmo in The Gremlins and The Gremlins two. Mandel also voiced Bunsen Honeydew, Animal, and Skeeter on the Muppet Babies. He also helped produce and create the Emmy winning children's show Bobbys World doing the voice of two charcters on the show. After that show ended he guest starred on a 'Lois & Clark' episode as well as a DC Comics Supervillians show. -

Deal or No Deal
in 2003 when Mandel was on the line between quitting show business or staying in it the producers at NBC asked him numerous times to be a host of the upcoming game show 'Deal or No Deal'. He started out doing five shows for the channel then continued on to be the full time host even though that was not the original intended plan. -
OCD
Howie Mandel explains his OCD which can take many forms often makes him to anxious to shake hands with anyone even contestants on his shows. In 2006 he told the public his shaved head was not due to hair loss but actually he prefers it shaven like that because he feels cleaner, he also admitted to having a second smaller house built in his backyard that he will go to when a family member gets sick so he can be in solitude. -
2008
2008 was a big year for Mandel as he got a star on the hollywood walk of fame, then later being listed as number 82 on their list of top 100 greatest stand up comedian of all time. At the end of the year he was presented with a star on Canadas walk of fame in his hometown of Toronto.
In 2008 Howie opened up about his struggle with ADHD and OCD on the talkshow live with Regis and Kelly trying to bring attention to these disorders in adults.
