  • Attack on World Trade Towers

    This was the event that sparked Ryan's emotions. He witnessed the event at high school on a television. At 19, he remembered and enlisted.

  • Ryan visits Ground Zero

    Ground Zero sparks Ryan's emotions once again. His emotion is intensified from being where it happened. He then realizes the impact of the attack.

  • Ryan goes into basic training

    Ryan went into basic training in 2002. This was during Red Phase. He was also in Red Phase of training

  • Ryan returns home from BCT

    Ryan completes all six months of BCT. He is now a private. He proceeds to community college and moving in with Heather.

  • Ryan is deployed

    Ryan was deployed in Iraq. Before he leaves, he marries Heather. He is then deployed.

  • Ryan arrives in Iraq

    Ryan gets on a plane and they make a stop at Germany. Then they land near Kuwait City and travel by buses.

  • Ryan on leave

    Ryan gets an official leave. He gets to stay with Heather and his family for 2 weeks. He is then deployed again.

  • Ryan returns to Iraq

    Ryan returns from his official leave. It is currently an Iraqi summer. He is then sent on a LOGPAC to Bravo Company.

  • Serg. Conklin Dies

    Sergeant Conklin died on a convoy around this time. It impacts Ryan in a way he thought it wouldn't. Conklin is given a funeral.

  • Ryan Returns

    Ryan returns from Iraq. He has some PTSD from war. He is glad to be home.

  • Ghosts of War published

    Ghosts of War was published. It tells the story of his deployment in Iraq. The company who publishes it is HarperCollinsPublishers
