Fredrick Bailey was born in Maryland Talbot County in 1818 or 1817.He never knew his dad but he knew he was a white man. -

At age 8 Fredrick moved to the Aalds house as a house servent.That was where he learned to read. -
becoming free
In 1838 Bailey ran away to Rockchester,Newyork to be free.While he was there he met Anna Murray and got married to her.She was a free woman.When they all setteld in Bedford he changred his last name to Douglass.
