Birth
Francisco Pizarro was born Francisco Pizarro González in the year of 1475. He was born in Spain and grew up speaking the language of Spanish. Francisco spent most of his time tending to the pigs. -
Jan 1, 1513
First Expedition
In 1513, Pizarro joined Vasco Núñez de Balboa in the journey to the “South Sea” which when Balboa discovered the Pacific Ocean. He experienced his first expedition. -

Mayor
1519-1523 was the years that Francisco was the mayor and magistrate of the town of Panamá. -

2nd Expedition
During the year of 1523, Pizarro went on a journey that would lead to fame later. He went on an expedition that went past the equator and then they traveled as far as Ecuador. Francisco Pizarro tried to get reinforcements, but the new government told him and his crew that there would be no more lives spared. -

Spain
1528 is when Francisco decided to go to Spain and ask the emperor for permission to continue their expedition. He then met Hernan Cortes and together they won Charles over to his plans. -

Captain General
In July of 1529, Pizarro was made governor and captain general of the province of New Castile. Which in total was 600 miles south of Panama along the coast that was recently discovered. -
Jan 1, 1530
Contact with the Incas
He and his four brothers-Gonzalo Pizarro, Hernando Pizarro, Juan Pizarro, and Francisco Martin de Alcantara-traveled to Panama in January of 1530 by January of 1531, they were ready to sail to Peru. By April, they made contact with people under the empowerment of Atahualpa, who is the emperor of the Incas. The emperor was living in the city of Cajamarca with an army of about 30,000 men. Pizarro and Atahualpa both agreed to meet in the city. -

Atahualpa
November 15, 1531, Francisco set up his artillery and sent his brother to ask for a face-to-face encounter with the emperor. A day later Atahualpa entered the square of Cajamarca. Vincente de Valverde tried to convince Atahualpa to accept Christianity and to be under the power of Charles V. After declining the offer, and examining the bible Valverde gave to him, he threw the book on the ground. After the Incas were cut down, Francisco took matters into his own hands and captured Atahualpa. -
Aug 29, 1533
Death of Huascar
August 29, 1533, was when Atahualpa got executed by the method of strangulation. He was accused of ordering the death of Huascar, his brother, a rival for the title of Inca, and the plans to overthrow the Spaniards. -

Death
For the rest of Francisco’s life, he took pride and effort into strengthening Peru. The last two years of Francisco Pizarro’s life came to an end in Lima, a city he built in 1535. Almagro’s son and his a few of his followers were seized and watched. They were going to meet their end so, they attacked Pizarro’s palace killing Francisco on June 25, 1541. The last few minutes he had, he drew a cross with his own blood on the ground, kissed it, and cried “Jesus” as he lay there dying.
