John Cabot
John Cabot was born in 1450 in Genoa, Italy. He was a white, Roman Catholic explorer. Through his observations of trade, he wanted to find an easier way to ship goods. He decided that they would be much easier shipped if brought across the Western Ocean. Cabot heard that Christopher Columbus was considering discovering the same thing, so he set out on his voyage on May 2, 1497. He discovered that a place called Cipangu could easily transport goods, so he set out to look for that specific place. -

Henry Hudson
Henry Hudson was an English explorer who was born in 1570. His main quest was to find a shortcut from Europe to the Far East. He was hoping that the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans were just separated by a thin strip of land, so he sailed into the New York Bay in September of 1609 and established the Hudson River. On his final journey from England in 1610, he headed north towards Canada. He found a body of water that he thought was the Pacific Ocean, but it turned out to be the Hudson Bay. -

William Baffin
William Baffin was born in London, England in 1584. he was a white explorer. He explored the Arctic Circle in 1612. In 1615, he entered the company that was trying to discover the Northwest Passage. The following year, he sailed as a pilot of the Discovery. He sailed west of Greenland and through the Davis Strait, where he discovered a large bay to the north which now bears his name. He died in a war in the Persian Gulf on January 23, 1622.
