John Cabot

John Cabot was born in 1450 in Genoa, Italy. He was a white, Roman Catholic explorer. Through his observations of trade, he wanted to find an easier way to ship goods. He decided that they would be much easier shipped if brought across the Western Ocean. Cabot heard that Christopher Columbus was considering discovering the same thing, so he set out on his voyage on May 2, 1497. He discovered that a place called Cipangu could easily transport goods, so he set out to look for that specific place.

After searching for some time, he gave up and returned home. He died shortly after, in the year 1499. Cabot relates to this topic because when he set out on his voyage, he was wished luck by the king of England, King Henry VII. Also, while searching, he came across land called Cape Race, which is now called England's Cape.

Sebastian Cabot

Sebastian Cabot was born in 1476 in Venice, Italy. He was the son to the explorer John Cabot. He was a white, Roman Catholic explorer, just like his father. Through the years, he had several communications with England. He was asked to do things by the kings of England such as leading voyages and participating in wars. He once was asked by King Henry VIII to aid his father in law, Ferdinand of Aragon, against the French. After serving the kings for many years, Sebastian was titled the governor

Sebastian Cabot

of England. He sent out three ships in May of 1553 to search for a passage to the East. Two vessels were caught in an ice storm and froze to death. The third vessel reached the White Sea and the captain made his way on land to Russia. He then returned to England and opened up considerable trade with Russia. It is estimated that Sebastian Cabot died around 1558.

Sir Francis Drake was a man who was born in Devonshire, England in the year 1540. He was a white Protestant explorer. His main feat was defeating the Spanish Armada. He was also the first Englishman to sail around the world in the year. This happened in the year 1570. Sir Francis Drake died on January 28, 1596 on the Pacific Ocean near Panama. His cause of death was a fever.

John Davis

John Davis was born in Sandridge, England in the year 1550. He was a white explorer. From a young age, he was a sailor. He always went out on expeditions. In the year 1585, he started his first northwestern expedition. He first went to the eastern shore of Greenland, then he traveled to Cape Farewell. After this expedition proved to be unsuccessful, he decided to return home. He went home on the Strait of Magellan and encountered horrific weather. Most of his men died, but he stumbled upon the

Sir Walter Raleigh

Sir Walter Raleigh was born in 1552 in England. He is famous for establishing the first British colony on the land of America. This colony is Roanoke. He is also famous for being the first to introduce the tobacco and the potato plants to England and Ireland. Also, he was known fore his poetry, and his bold and courageous behavior in court during the Elizabethian Age. Also, he was the favorite of Queen Elizabeth I. He died of execution October 29, 1618.

Henry Hudson

Henry Hudson was an English explorer who was born in 1570. His main quest was to find a shortcut from Europe to the Far East. He was hoping that the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans were just separated by a thin strip of land, so he sailed into the New York Bay in September of 1609 and established the Hudson River. On his final journey from England in 1610, he headed north towards Canada. He found a body of water that he thought was the Pacific Ocean, but it turned out to be the Hudson Bay.

William Baffin

William Baffin was born in London, England in 1584. he was a white explorer. He explored the Arctic Circle in 1612. In 1615, he entered the company that was trying to discover the Northwest Passage. The following year, he sailed as a pilot of the Discovery. He sailed west of Greenland and through the Davis Strait, where he discovered a large bay to the north which now bears his name. He died in a war in the Persian Gulf on January 23, 1622.
