Edgar was sent into foster care soon after his mothers death from TB. -

When he was 15, his first love died of Brain Cancer. This was accompanied by his foster mother contracting TB. -
University
Edgar is sent off to unversity in 1827 by his adoptive father. He did this so that he could continue having affairs, while his wife was sick with TB. -

Francis Allan died of TB and Edgar goes to West Point -
