Overall Explantion
Carter is a boy entering his freshman year of high school. This book is mainly about all the trouble he gets into and the memories he's made. His main goal is to lose his virginty so he can show the other boys how it's done. I chose this book because I thought I could somewhat relate to it becuase I will aslo be entering high school next year. -

The School Year

Event 1 -- Approaching Amber Lee
Amber Lee is known as the popular girl, the queen bee. Carter sees her at the arcade, but he is afraid that he might make a fool of himself. He quickly brainstorms something cool to say. He walks up to her and that is when his stuttering kicks in. Carter has a stuttering problem, but mostly around girls who make him nervous. He quickly recovers and asked if she needed change. Thinking: This event shows how being cool is really important to Carter especially in front of girls. -
Event 2--The Girl: Abby
Carter is desperate for a girl, so he can show his boys how its done. All he really wants is to be the first to get laid. Carter notices a girl, Abby, at the pool and observes that she lost weight. From here everything happens fast. Carter and Abby start to like eachother and attend their first high school party. They shared their first kiss under a tree after the party. Thinking: I think this is a special moment for Carter because it is his first experience with a girl. -
Event 3-- First Date
Abby and Carter's first date was held at the movies, and it didn't go too well. They bought their tickets and grabbed some seats. Everything was going good until Carter felt a huge fart creeping up on him. He made a quick decision to let it out little by little. Abby ended up smelling the horrible fart and vomited. Thinking: I included this event because it demonstrates how Carter doesn't always have a smooth ending. -
Event 4-- Makeup Date
Their last date was a wreck, so Carter wanted to make up for it. They went to the movies again and did the same procedure as before. The end of the movie was near,and he wanted to make a move fast. Her started to touch her boobs and reach under her skirt. Carter was so happy that he scored, but after the movie things were awkward. Abby scurried home as if she felt uncomfortable with what just happend. Another date gone wrong. Thinking: This event shows that maybe Carter is moving too fast. -
Event 5-- The Meltdown
A rumor was going around the school that Carter and Abby had sex at the movies. He may have gave away some details to his friends. Abby was on the drill team, and she came out wailing on the field with the rest of her team during Carter's football practice. All of it was complicated, but Carter also told Abby he loved her and then asked Amber to homecoming. Their relationship is going downhill once again. Thinking: Carter does not know what's right from wrong with his girlfriend. -
Event 6-- Homecoming
Carter picked up Amber at her house and she looked like trash. Her dress was hideous, and her hair was a mess. After the awkward car ride, they arrived at the dance. Amber ended up changing into a different dress and ditched Carter for another boy. Her explanation was her dad didn't like the other boy, so she used Carter as a coverup. Thinking: This event shows that some people are not who you think they are. Carter needs to be more wise with his choices. -
Event 7-- Arrested
Carter and his boys were invited to a house party, but only if they supply the booze. Within an hour the party was shutdown by the cops everyone escaped but Carter. He was held down to the ground with handcuffs but managed to escape the cop. One of his friends helped him get the handcuffs off, and they both dashed into the woods. Thinking: Carter has been getting into a lot of trouble lately, and I think it has something to do with the breakup between him and Abby. -
Event 8-- Driving Date
Carter attended another high school party located out in the woods. Like always the party was shutdown by cops. Carter had no choice but to steel a truck and give everyone rides home. Abby was walking on the side of the road, so he picked her up. She was the last one to drop off but they ended up crashing into the backyard of Carter's house. Abby was fine, but it was a bad mistake. Thinking: I think Carter wanted to look cool driving the truck, so he could win Abby back. -
Event 9-- Cut
It's spirng now and the baseball season has started. Carter and all his buddies tried out for the Varsity Baseball team. Carter was the only one to get cut, but he thought for sure that he had made it. All of his friends recieved the fresh baseball cap and uniform that he wanted so badly. Thinking: I belive Carter was jealous of his friends because this was the first time he was disculded. He also wanted the uniform and cap, so he could look cool in front of Abby. -
Event 10-- The Musical
Since Carter was cut from the baseball team, there wasn't any other sports he could participate in. One of his teachers suggested he should take a part in the school musical. Carter didn't want to at first because apparently being in the musical isn't cool. He heard Abby was going to be the muscial so he tried out. Abby's partner bailed on her and Carter was there to save the day. Thinking; I think Carter was happy he was there, so he could show off to Abby. -
Overall Premise
I think this was a good book and I like the plot. I would reccomend this to a friend because they could also realate to it. If there was a movie about this book I would watch it becuase it has an interesting plot. If there was another book related to this one I would consider reading it. I think this book could happen in real life if you have a crazy realtionship and high school experience.
