John Venn
John Venn was born in 1834 in the city of Hull England. Venn’s mother died when he was at a young age and his father was a strict man and a part of the Christian ministry. Like his father Venn was expected to follow the same path and become a reverend himself. His secondary education led him to the Gonville and Caius College in Cambridge in the year 1853. He is a lead contributor of the Venn Diagram. -

Alexander Grothendieck
Contributions to Algebraic Geometry Alexander Grothendieck was born in 1928 in Germany. At a young age his parents moved to France and he was left under the supervision of Wilhelm Heydorn who was a Lutheran Pastor at Alexander’s schools. During the Second World War he was reunited with his mother in France and lived in different camps with her for a period of time. During this time he went to the College Cenenol where he found his interest in Mathematics. -
Irene Fonseca
Calculus of Variations Irene Maria Quintanilha Coelho Da Fonseca was born in the year 1956 in the country of Portugal. She attended the University of Lisbon where in 1980 she graduated with a degree in Math. With the help of two different fellowships Fonseca was able to travel to American to continue her studies of mathematics at the University of Minnesota alongside her brother in law who was in a similar program as her. After getting her Doctoral degree she started a part time job as a professor at Carnegie Mellon.
