Birth
Akbar was born the son of Humayun and the grandson of Babur, the founder of the great Mughal Dynasty. He was born in the Rajput Fortress of Umerkot in modern day Pakistan. He was given the name Badruddin at birth because he was born on the night of the full moon. -

Succeeds the throne
Akbar took the throne as the third great Mughal emperor behind Babur and Humayun. He was only thirteen years old at the time. He is commonly known as Akbar “The Great” or Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar. -

Conquered Malwa
Akbars first major conquering attempt was of Malwa in 1561, this attack was led by Adham Khan and carried out with such cruelty that it resulted in a backlash from the kingdom enabling its ruler Baz Bahadur to recover the territory while Akbar was dealing with the rebellion of Bairam Khan. Following this, Akbar tried to capture Malwa again in 1562, this time Baz Bahadur surrendered to the Mughals and was made an administrator by Akbar. -

Built Fatehpur Sikri
After the birth of his first son, he built the city of Fatehpur Sikri containing the second largest mosque in the world called Jami Masjid. Between now and the death of Akbar, he was troubled with the mischief of his sons. His third son, Salim, was bringing rebellion that Akbar was fighting down while he died. -

Conquered Gujarat
Akbar attacked Gujarat in 1572 A.D in person. Gujarat was regarded as the centre place of the trade with the western world. -

Conquered Bengal
Akbar wanted to introduce the same fiscal economy into Bengal which he had established in other provinces. It was not until the 1592, that the authority of Akbar was conclusively established in Bengal. -

Conquered Kabul
After the death of Muhammad Hakim, Akbar conquers Kabul -
Moved capital to Lahore
Akbar move the capital city Lahore from Fatehpur Sikri. It is said that one of the reasons he did this was because of poor quality water supply. Another theory was because he had to attend the northwest areas of the empire, so he just moved the capital city so he wouldn't have to travel as far. -
Conquered Kashmir
Akbar's primary reason for conquering Kashmir, was to firmly establish Muslim influence on the people -
Moved capital back to Agra
Akbar eventually moves the capital back to Agra where he rules until his death. It is said that the reason Akbar moved the capital back to Agra might have been because he wanted to build his tomb there. -
Death
Akbar dies at the age of 63 from natural causes
