Charlemagne [2]
He built an empire almost greater than Rome. By 800, he reunited Europe for the first time since the Roman Empire. Also he traveled to Rome to stop an unruly mob and was crowned emperor by Pope Leo III. A year before Charlemagne died in 1814; he crowned his son Louis the pious as emperor. He could have fared better as a monk and proved to be an ineffective ruler.

Charlemagne became the king after Pepin the short died. He quickly got control of the kingdom. He like other explorers was interested in gold but he found none in the small island. -

He was important during the renaissance because his thinking was so advanced. -

Cortes was given half of the empires gold but was not satisfied. He forced the Aztecs to mine more gold and silver. By 1521, the Aztec empire was conquered by the Spaniards and so fell a great empire. -

Francisco Pizarro [1]
In 1532, the Incan empire was invaded by Pizarro and his 200 something men they met the leader Atahualpa near the city of Cajamarca. The leader brought about 30,000 men mostly unarmed. The Spaniards killed them all and captured Atahualpa. He offered to give them three rooms filled with gold and silver for his release. But after they received the ransom, they strangled the leader and killed him. -

Without their leader, the Incans retreated. Pizarro then marched to Cuzco, their capital, and captured it without a struggle. The Incans failed after the Mayans and so another empire was destroyed by the power of the Spaniards. -
