Born in London on the 7th of Febuary 1478, Saint Thomas More was a Religious Martyr. -

Education
He was educated in Saint Anthony's in London as a child. Around the year 1496 Saint Thomas was accepted to Lincoln's Inn where he studied law. Saint More later became a Barrister in the year 1501. After his years at Saint Anthony's school in London, Saint Thomas then went to Oxford. There he became an author writing comedies. He also studied Greek and Latin literature. -

Accepted into parliament and marriage
More felt the need to serve his country in politics. During his time at parliament he married for the first time. Somewhere between the years of 1504-1505. -

Marriages
In the year 1505, At the age of 27 Thomas married the 17 year old Jane Colt. Jane was the daughter of a legal colleague. She gave birth to three girls and a boy. But after 6 years of marriage she died. He needed to find a mother for his four children. So only a few months after the death of his wife he married again. He married a women older than himself named Alice Middleton. -

More's first act in parliament
Probably Saint Thomas's first act in parliament was to pursue others to decrease in the supposed fraud of King Henry VII. In response to this the King jailed his father and More had to pay a fine. -

Work Achievements
Thomas More achieved many things in his life, his work achievements are what stood out from the rest. The things he achieved in work are:
1510-Appointed Under-Sheriff of the city of Lodon
1515-16-Wrote Utopia. Probably the biggest work achievement in his life.
1518-Began serving under King Henry VII
1521-He was knightd and became the Sub-Treasurer
1523-Was voted in to be speaker of the House Of Commons.
1525-Made Chancellor. -

Controversy with the Knig
In 1534 when Henry was declared head of the English church. More did not wish to follow any other than the Pope as the Church's leader. The King imprisoned him and gave him time to change his mind. But he didn't leaving the king no other chice but to execute him as a punishment, for treason. -

Imprisonment
15 months before his trial Saint More was Imprisoned. He was persued by family and friends to sign the oath accepting that King Henry VII as the head of the Church. -

The Death of Saint More
Saint More was beheaded alongside Bishop Fisher for treason. His final words were 'The Kings good servant, but God's first'. -
Beatification
Saint Thomas More was beatified by Pope Leo XII in the year 1886. -
The canonisation of Saint Thomas More
Saint Thomas was canonisation by Pope Pius XI on the 19 of May 1935. His feast day was originally on the 7th of July but it was changed to the 22nd of June. He is recognised on both the English calendar of Saints and Roman Catholic calendar.
