When McCormick was 15, he developed a low weight "cradle" to allow people to harvest more grain with less effort. -

McCormick saw a great upcoming demand for farm machines in the rapidly expanding midwest and recieved his first patent, by that time he had sold few reapers. -

McCormick's Challenge
McCormick once was challenge by another inventor to find whose machine cut the most grain. On the day of the contest, it rained. While McCormicks machine was able to cut in damp conditions, his opponents was not. -
Move to Chicago
When McCormick's wealth increased, he decided to build a main factory in Chicago. -
World Fair
McCormick won the gold metal at London's Crystal Palace Exposition and quickly became world famous. -
