    Kevin Mitnick was born in Van Nuys, California on August 6th, 1963. He grew up in the city of Los Angeles and attended James Monroe High School. During his high school career he became an amateur radio operator.

    At the age of 12 Mitnick used social engineering to by pass the punchcard system utilized in the Los Angeles transportation system.After he persuaded a bus driver to reveal to him where he could purchase his own ticket punch for "a school project", where he was able to ride any bus transportation in the Los Angeles area using unused transfer slips that he found in a dumpster near the companies garage.

    At the age of 16 years old Kevin gained unauthorized access to a computer network. He did this by breaking into the computers network and replicating their software.
