  • Karl Popper is born

Karl Popper was born on July 28, 1902, in Vienna, Austria. HE was born into a newly converted Christian family as his parents had left behind their Jewish religion to fit into mainstream society. As a child, Popper was already intrigued by philosophy. Popper hated school and referred to it as hours of torture. His school valued drilling knowledge into his head when he preferred to reflect and question what was being taught (Parvin and Meadowcroft).

In 1922 Popper took an exam to allow him to become a fully enrolled student at university at the age of 20. In two years he took another test from the teaching-training university where he found teaching jobs to be scarce. He was also in school to learn carpentry which was also not his forte. He left those jobs and became a social worker for children. Soon after his love for philosophy and politics reclaimed him and he became influenced by non-marxist thought (Parvin and Meadowcroft).
  • The Logic of Scientific Discovery is published

In 1934 Popper publishes his book "The Logic of Scientific Discovery" Which covers much about induction, falsification, the problem with the scientific method, and degrees of testability (Popper). Popper's theory was to disprove hypothesises in the pursuit of correct science. This book is an influential book in the history of philosophy that shares the theories Popper had that confirmed the way we look at science today(Parvin and Meadowcroft).
