    Mr. P visits Junior to have an important and life changing talk. He tells Junior to get off the rez to try and achieve something greater because the rest of the kids have already given up. This convinces Junior to do so as he learned that he felt remorse for the people on the rez and that he called his sister smart.

    She tries to show that she is brave just like Junior by getting out of the Rez and marrying a white man.

    Junior tells Roger he doesn't have money and is given 40 bucks by Roger to pay for the meal he ordered for Penelope and him. Later on is confronted by Penelope and tells his secret.

    Junior at first is intimidated by the size of the other players but later on gets noticed by the coach and makes the team because of his determination.

    This event sets up a rivalry between the schools, but also sets up a basket-ball rivalry between Rowdy and Junior.

    Junior's grandmother is killed by a drunk truck driver. Also tells him and his parents to forgive the man who caused her death.

    On valentines day Eugene is killed by Bobby who apparently shot him over the last drink in a bottle of wine.
  • Rearden beats Well-Pinit

    Rearden beats Well-Pinit by 40 points and goes on to the playoffs with an undefeated win streak. But Well-Pinit kept losing after the game.
  • Mary passes away

    At this point Junior really has no emotions as he has lost three people who he was close with. But his classmates at school also now has realized that he was a regular human being like the rest of them. That is why this event is so very important at this point of the story.
  • Junior and Rowdy play basket-ball together

    This final event is important because it settles the relationship of that peace between the relationship of Rowdy and Junior. By doing that they play ball together while Rowdy has a deep talk with Junior about having a dream of him traveling around the world and how he was the only nomadic Indian on the reservation. He also states that he was happy for him, establishing a sort of peaceful friendship for the ending of the book.
