Captured
He was eating the cows when a group of Mandingo slave hunters noticed that he was defenseless and captured him. The hunter’s leader sold Job to the Arabella; a whip selling slaves. Job was taken to Maryland on the Arabella to work in a tobacco plantation. Then Job was placed in charge of the cattle. -
Attempting to Sell Slaves
Job attempted to sell two slaves to an English ship. As he entered Gambia, he traded his two slaves for two cows as he was starving to death. He ate the cows. -
Attempted Escape
White boys working in the plantation were racist to him. Job attempted escape, but he was caught and placed in prison. -
Freedom
Job, in desperation wrote a letter in Arabic to finally become free once again. Oglethorpe purchased Job from his master out of curiosity and took him to England. -
Return Home
He learnt English and became very successful in England. In 1734, Job was sent back home to Gambia. He wanted to kill the racist white boys in the plantation but restrained himself. Job had become a transported man due to his new life experience. -
Death
Job Ben Solomon died. He was 72 years of age.
