Musa ibn Nusayr, a Muslim governor of Norther Africa arrives with 18,000 Muslim reinforcements to aid Tariq ibn Ziyad's army conquer Spain. This is significant because this showed the magnitude of the Muslim Army and this was their first step in conquering Spain. -

By now, nearly all of Spain is ran by Muslims. It only took three years for the Muslims to conquer Spain where as it took the Christians approximately 460 years the do the same. This just shows how powerful the Islamic army was. -

Cordova is announced as the first Capital in Spain. This is significant because this is where the Great Mosque of Cordova was constructed. This capital will also become the the main Islamic holding cite in Spain through out the Islamic Golden Age in Spain. -

Muslim forces proceed to tighten their grasp over southern France and capture cities Carcassone and Nimes. Their goal was to wipe out churches, monasteries, and other holy places and objects in addition to enslaving and killing all the clerics. -

This is such a significant point because it showed that the Muslims were here to stay in Spain. This was also the start of the Golden Islamic Age of Spain. -

The Christians begin to attack the Muslims in Spain. Toledo was the first Islamic center to fall. This was the first step in the fall of the Islamic Empire in Spain. -

The Battle of Sagrajas
The Muslims fight back against the Christians. The Muslims, now angry that they have lost Toldeo, general Tusuf bin Tashfin comes up from Africa to fight the Christians. This was the battle that sparked the recapture of most of Spain by the Muslims. They continue to defeat the Christians. -

As a result of the rebellion within Spain, the Muslims became vulnerable as they began to fall apart. This lead to the reconquest of Spain. -

The Battle of Grenada was the final defeat for the Muslims. Islam has been driven out of Spain. -

Christianity takes over
As Islam is driven out of Spain, Christianity moves in. The remaining muslims were either forced to convert to Christianity, and if they did not, they were subject to brutal restrictions.
