    Holden is in his room reading his book being all by himself, while wearing his red hunting cap.

    Stradlater is going on a date with Jane Gallagher, and Holden likes her. Then, Ackley came into his room and popped his zits till dinner. Holden hints he wanted Ackley to leave.

    Holden describes how Allie, his brother, and puts it in the composition. Stradlater comes and reads the composition, and tells Holden there's no wonder he's getting expelled. After some bickering the two boys fight .

    Holden is in Ackley's room trying to fall asleep, but can't and talks to Ackley about running to a monestary without being Catholic. Holden decides to leave to New York before Wensday. On his way out he yells, "Sleep tight, ya morons!"

    Holden takes a cab to the Edmont hotel, and invites the taxi driver for a drink. The driver turns him down.

    Holden triest to order achole, but the Waiter refuses. His gray hair and height get him drinks most of the time. He then flirts with some older women, but in the end they're unintrested.

    Holden goes to a bar to drik scotch, and then walks 41 block to the hotel. On the way up the elevator the opperator offers Holden a prostitute, he accepts due to his frustration. When the prostitute gets to his room he lies about an opperation, as an ecuse to make her leave, and tells her to leave. He pays her the 5 dallors.

    Holden walks around the city getting ready for his date with Sally, and goes to all the places that remind him of Phobe. He also buys the tickets for the play he is taking Sally to.

    Holden is on the date, after the play, iceskating and he tells Sally they could run away together. After Sally told him it was rediculous, Holden yells at her telling and Sally begins to cry.

    Holden meets Luce at the Wicker bar, for drinks, but Luce gets annoyed by Holden and leaves. After he leaves Holden gets very drunk, and calls Sally. He then tries to get dates with a couple of women, but gets turned down. Holden decides to go to the duck pond, to see if the ducks are still there.

    Holden is running low on money, so he risks going home. He also wanted to talk to Phobe. He sneaks in, but leaves before being detected.

    Holden gets lonely and goes to the family apartment, and talks to Phobe. She is overjoyed to see him and figures out he was kicked out of school.

    Holden's parents come home from the party, and he hides in the closet. He leaves when they go to bed and goes to Mr. Antolini's place for the night.

    Holden is sleeping at Mr. Antolini's place, and they talk about his future. When Holden wakes up Mr. Antolini is stroking his hair. He says it was nothing, but Holden says it was a homosexual and leaves.

    Holden visits Phobe's school to pay her back the money she gave him. He becomes angery when he finds the words "F**k you" on the walls

    Holden Passes out waiting for Phobe at the museum, but downplays it. WHen she get there he says she can't go with him. She becomes angery with him and refuses to go back to school. They then go to the zoo, and Holden says he is so happy he might cry.

    Holden concludes the story saying how he got sick and was put in the resthome. plus he says how he is going to a new school in the fall, and is going to aplly himself more.
