He was an ordained minister. He worked in Malone, Texas bank. And involved himself in the YMCA work at the U.S. Army camp Bowie near Fort Worth. -

Death
He was killed approximetely 115 miles away from Paris, France. He was brought back and barried in fairveiw cemetary in Hubbard Texas in 1921 -

Several young men were leaving for camps, so Kornegay decided to go himself. He would have been exempt from the army service because of his being a student of the ministry. -

But he still kept his plans. His friends had hoped he would have returned to serve for the church but they would become dissapointed. -

He wanted to go to france but only the more mature soldiers could be sent across. So he went and signed up for the marines and was sent to Paris Island for training. And then went to quantico to sail with his comrades on his way to his own death. -
