Charlie Gordon writes his first progress report after Mr. Strauss suggested it. Charlie explains his want to be smart, and he wants to be used for the surgery to make him smart. -

After much debate, Charlie finds out that he is being used for the special surgery to make him smarter. He says "Im so exited I can hardly write." -
Charlie Comes Out Of Surgery
After the doctors took the bandages off of his eyes, Charlie wrote a progress report saying how he feels about the operation. He said it did not hurt, and he wishes he knew some fancy things already. -
Back To Work
Charlie goes back to work and is very excited to see his freinds again. Shortly after he arrives, he notices his friends saying thngs like "He really pulled a Charlie Gordon." Charlie did not understand what this meant. -
Charlie Beats Algernon!
After racing Algernon for a while, Charlie finally beat Algernon in the race! He even beat him 8 more times! Charlie says that he wants to be Algernon's friend. -
Embarrassment
Joe Carp and Frank Reilly invited Charlie to a party, where they rset him up to make him look bad. When everyone was laughing at him, he ran out on the street and threw up. In he end he understood what it means when his coworkers say "To pull a Charlie Gordon" -
Charlie Quits His Job
Charlie quit is job at the factory after Mr. Donnegan showed him a petition of 840 names of people that wanted Charlie to leave Nobody talked to him about it besides Fanny. Charlie feels so ashamed and alone now. -
Charlie Stands Up At the Diner
When Charlie was at the diner, he saw this 16 year old boy dropped a lot of dishes. Many people in the diner laughed at the boy and made him feel embarrassed. Charlie gets very angry with these people, and he stands up for the boy. -
Algernon Bit Charlie
Charlie visited Algernon i the lab like he normally does, and when he took him out of the cage, Algernon bit him.This was the first sign of Algernon declining that Charlie has seen. -

In this time, Charlie gets his own lab to perform an experiment to see if he was going to lose his memory like Algernon. He soon finds out that like Algernon, Charlie will not stay smart forever. -
Algernon Dies
Algernon died, and according to the dissection, Charlie's prediction was correct. He realizes that this will soon happen to him, and he gets extremely depressed. Later on, he starts to lose his memory. -
Charlie Moves Away
After Charlie is exactly where he strted, he decides to move away so nobody has to pity him. In this letter, he says goodbye to all of his doctors and frineds, and tells them to put flowers on Algernon's grave for him.
