Death of Brezhnev
While the death of Brezhnev, being the age of 75; suffering from a heart problem. soon after his death, Yuri Andropov was elected general secretary two days later. Meanwhile at his funeral, 32 heads of state, 15 heads of government, and 14 foreign ministers attended his funeral. -
Enver Hoxha
Died as a dictator of albania as he served for four decades. Was the chairman of Albania for the democrats. After his death Ramiz Alia succeeded Enver. He was the eliminator of the opposition during his reign for 40 years. He made his own economy increase to rapid economy growth. After the World War II, he tried to rebuild the country out of its ruins. -
Milestones
During the Cold War, the Germans took down the Berlin Wall: the heart of Europe. While taking it down, the german Captain ordered all the border guards to kill any who try to escape. The meaning that the wall was down meant that the Cold War was over. That wall was called the iron curtain for two generations. -
Miloš Jakeš
He was one of the General Secretaries. He chose to Change his name to Miloš instead of Milouš. Because of the book: Saturnin, he changed his name to Miloš because the Buffoon is called Milouš. This man tried to change his position up to another rank but the party declined his apeasement. He is also known to be in the "Velvet Revolution." -
Velvet Revolution
AKA Gentle Revolution, was a non-violence transition of power in Czech. Protestors were dressed in riot police uniforms. The number of protestors increased from 200,000 to 500,000 in one day. The strike went on for two hours involving citizens from Czech. After it had stopped; later the whole Communist party, including Milos Jakes resigned. -
Pressures of the fall
Most of these pressures happened to happen in Hungary, the communist systems were going through a proccess of collapse. This meant that econimical and political crisises were at hand. they oddly went through a calmly proccess of decromatization. Politics and econimics caused the fall of communism in Hungary. -
Mikhail Gorbachev resigns
He served as the General Secretary, also as the countries head from 1985 till 1991. He was the only General Secretary who has been born after October Revolution. Ronald Reagans speech "tear town this wall" most likely inspired Mikhail to resign for this republic to end. -
The Dissolution of the Soviet Union
Finally the USSR ceased to exist by, the communists got together,to conspire and take Gorbachev out of office. Gorbachev resigned the day after on the 25 of December, they got him out of office on that day and the day after the Soviet Union Dissolved.The Soviet flag was removed from the Kremlin for the last time at 7:30 that night.
