    Grayson is Potty Trained
    Grayson (age 2) can now detect when he needs to go to the bathroom and can do so on his on, showing that he has gained a sense of autonomy as he is gaining independence and a sense of control. In Erikson's 2nd stage, Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt, as children begin to have a small amount of independence, they can make small choices that either result in embarrassment or shame, or can result in autonomy. Successful choices leave the individual with a feeling of will and self control .
  • Grayson Gets all A's on His Report Card

    Grayson Gets all A's on His Report Card
    After finishing the 5th grade, Grayson has all A's on his report card and takes pride in his accomplishments! His teachers were very supportive and his parents took him out for ice-cream after. In Erikson's 4th stage of development, Industry vs. Inferiority, children seek praise for new social, athletic, or academic demands. Failure in this stage is found by they child not receiving praise, meanwhile success is when the child receives praise and has a sense of confidence and competence.
  • Grayson Makes the Varsity Football Team

    Grayson Makes the Varsity Football Team
    Grayson has joined the group of jocks in high-school after making the football team. He feels like he finally fits in, and feels like he is truly himself. In Erikson's 5th stage, identity vs. confusion, the crisis is the adolescent trying to figure out his/her identity. Those who remain true to themselves and will develop feelings of fidelity and a strong sense of self. Those who do not remain true, will experience confusion and insecurity that can carry on into adulthood
