He worked his way up to be a political leader for Communist China. He led a fight in the Japanese-Chinese Conflict, and decided he wanted to control all of China. Because of this, many lives were lost due to his leadership, as China experienced a very bloody civil war.

Nicolae Ceausescu: General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party
He joined the Communist movement in Romania as a youth and moved up to have an important position of power. He became Head of State and began to make many changes, including bulldozing over people’s homes and entire villages and forcing people to live in apartment buildings. He eventually ordered his secret police and military to declare war on his own people who were holding demonstrations to protest his rule.

Muammar Gaddafi joined a military group and took control of Libya in and became Dictator for over 40 years. Under his leadership, he got rid of all those in the country who were not Libyans. He also got the Libyan military involved in fighting wars in Sudan, Egypt, and Chad. From this, many instances of terrorism started.

Idi Amin Dada was a President of Uganda and in power 1971 to 1979. He was known as the “Butcher of Uganda” as his crimes against people were brutal and very violent. In 1971, he overthrew the current leader of the time, and made himself president of Uganda. According to Biography.com, Idi Amin Dada had killed nearly 300,000 people brutally while he was president.

Juvenal Habyarimana was the President of Rwanda from 1973 until his death in 1994. He was very loyal to that group and used his power and authority to begin a genocide to eliminate the other ethnic groups such as the Tutsis. He killed more than 800,000 Rwandans during his time in power.

Pol Pot was a Communist Leader of Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. He became Prime Minister in his group called Khmer Rouge which was a very powerful and unfair group that controlled everything about people’s lives in Cambodia. Under Pol Pot, The Khmer Rouge communist group tried to expand beyond their borders and frequently had fighting and skirmishes with Vietnamese forces.

Trained to take over for his father one day, he grew into the position of dictator. The country of North Korea has suffered poverty, education issues, and food shortages under his rule.
