    Father's Store Boycotted
Daniel sees the picture of the word JEW painted across his father's store. This is one of the first examples we see in the story of economic discrimination where the Germans were trying to hurt the jews by not supporting their businesses. Daniel tells how Mrs. Warner didn't listen to the Brown Shirt who tried to stop her from shopping there. He wonders what would have happened if more people stood up to the Nazis like Mrs. Werner.
