    This event includes the U.S. and U.S.S.R. The Cold War was a state of tension between 2 countries. The event took place between 1945 and 1989 in Europe, Soviet Union, and the U.S. The Cold War was important because we didn't go communist. The Cold War impacted economy because now communism isn't around that much anymore.
  • Truman Doctrine/Marshall Plan

    Truman Doctrine/Marshall Plan
    This event involves Western Europe, Greece, Turkey, and the U.S. The U.S. gave $400 million in military aid to Greece and Turkey to stop communism from spreading. George Marshall gave $12 million in aid to rebuild Western Europe from WW2. These events were in March 1947 and April 1948. These events were important because it showed the U.S. would do anything to stop communism. The Truman Doctrine/Marshall Plan impacted politics because now we aren't communist.

    U.S. citizens had new TVs. People started going outside less and stayed up later to watch TV. By 1950 50 million TV sets were estimated to be used in the U.S. This all started in the late 1940s. It was important because people could advertise things on the TV. The TV age impacted society because people started watching TV and didn't go outside as much.

    Oliver Brown and his daughter Linda are involved in this event. Linda wanted to go to an all white school because it was closer to their house. This event took place in 1954. It was important because it was violating the Plessy vs. Ferguson case. Brown vs. Board impacted society because it showed that African Americans weren't treated equally.

    This event is about JFK. He was in a car during a parade when somebody shot him in the head. He died at 2:00 p.m. at Parkland hospital. This happened in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. It was important because Lyndon Johnson became the vice president. JFK Assassination impacted society because eople loved him so much and now he was dead.

    President Lyndon Johnson created this. The government helps people pay their hospital bills. Help people of any age that are blind, deaf, aged, disables, and pregnant. This stared in 1966. It was important because it is the largest source of funding for people with low income. Medicaid/Medicare impacted society because older adults paid more than three times as much for health insurance as younger people and the benefits vary from state to state.

    Martin Luther King Jr. has to do with this event. He was at a hotel when James Earl Ray shot him from the bathroom of a different hotel. He died at 7:05 in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. This was important because it silenced the leader of America's non-violent civil rights. MLK Assassination impacted society because the Civil Rights Movement pretty much ended.

    Richard Nixon was president from 1968-1972. 5 men broke into Democratic headquarters. They were caught because the door wasn't shut. This happened in Washington D.C. on June 17, 1972. It was important because there was secret tape recordings in there. Nixon/Watergate impacted economy because he was the first president to resign.

He was important because of Salt 2, Iran hostages were taken, Social Security act was passed, and Camp David Accords. Jimmy Carter impacted society because of the boycott of the Olympics in 1980.

Bush impacted economy because of the Persian Gulf War.

    Hurricane Katrina affected people in New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina was a category 5 then went to a category 3. It happened on August 29, 2005 in New Orleans. It was important because 80% of the city was flooded and there was 75 mph winds. Hurricane Katrina impacted society because more than 150,000 homes were destroyed and more thane 900 churches were trashed. Also 1,836 people died and 705 missing.
