The Signing of the Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was signed. This happen on July 4, 1776. This is important because it made our country free from England. -
Ratification of the United States Constitution
Article VII stated that nine states had to ratify the Constitution for it to go into effect. The Constitution was made very strict for the Philadelphia convention. -
The Louisana purchase
In 1802 president Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans from France. France made a shocking suggestion asking if Jefferson wanted to purchase the whole Louisana territory. The Lewis and Clark journey
Lewis and Clark set out on there expeditionin the summer of 1803. During there journey they were joined by a Native Americsn girl named Sacagawea. Clark took along his slave who then became the first black persona Native American has seen. The Donner Party
In the spring of 1846 about 90 emigrant w=started the move west. Someone told them of shortcut to take two weeks off there trip this turned out to be wrong and added more time. The Texas revlolution
Texas which was mostly Mexicans bordered the Louisana purchase. More and more setllers came into Texas to settle this was fine until the Mexicans wer unhappy about the Americans not following laws. This event in history is important because it expanded our nation from the Alantic to the Pacific.

The California Gold Rush
In January 1848 James Marshall discorved Gold. After word traveled about Marshalls discovery everyone from all over was rushing to California which started the Gold Rush. Fugitive slave act
The compromise of 1850 was a attempt to calm down this big political issue. As a slave fugitive they could be held without a arrest warrant becuase slaves were considered property. One thing about this act that really upset Northerners was that they were made to help capture the runaway slaves.

Bleeding Kansas
When the election in 1855 was taking place. At this time, there was more proslavery settlers then antislavery settlers. Around 5,000 people from Missouri came and voted illegally in the election. The Kansas legislative was mostly all proslavery reps. This caused many attacks after all these attacks were over this territory in Kansas was called "bleeding Kansas". McDOugal Littel 486-492 -
Harpers ferry
In 1859 John Brown riaded the U.S arsenal at Harpers ferry. After that Brown sent out a message saying rally and arm th local slaves.No slaves joined the fight the U.S marines attacked brown and only osme of his men got away.

The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
LIncoln was assassintated on good friday. at that time the Civil war was just about over. Lincoln was the first American president to be assassinated. Andrew Jackson tried to assassinate him 3 years before his death in 1865. This was important becuase he was a big part in our country. -
