Bobby McMullen is diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes
He was only 12 years old when he was diagnosed. The doctor said that he had to play sports and get lots of exercise. Bobby liked this idea because he loved to be active and play sports. -
Lost sight in 1993
He started to lose his eyesight when he was in the middle of law school in Northern California. He was blind in a month. -
Learned to ski
After Bobby lost his sight one of his friends asked him to ski with the disabled team. He complied and trained hard with his guide. He fell down alot in the beginning but got back up and kept going. Bobby said "If you fall down seven times get up eight". Within a year he qualified for the U.S. Disabled Ski Team. -
Needs Dialysis
While competing in the World Disabled Alpine Championships in Austria Bobby becomes sick and now needs dialysis. -
Dialysis routine becomes routine
Bobby had his dialysis routine down. He skiied and biked in the morning and went to dialyisis in the afternoon. -
First Double Transplant
A matching kidney and pancreas are found for Bobby. He has his transplant and goes back to skiing. -
Paralympics competitor 1998
Bobby along with his guide took 5th in the Nagano, Japan Paralympic games. -
Acute renal rejection
Within a few months he was back on dialysis. -
Back on dialysis
After the rejection his organs failed. He was back on dialysis by 2001. -
2nd double transplant
After his 2nd double transplant he went back to skiing for a while.

Completes the Race Across America
Race Across America He completed a 3,000 mile race across the country. he raced to raise awarness for blindness, organ donation, transplantation, and diabetes. -
Downieville Downhill Classic
He had been training for this 17 mile race for weeks and had memorized the course. This paid off when he and his guide were able to pass 8 other people. This was very impressive because he is blind and he started in last place. The Downieville Classic is known as the most challenging downhill race. -

Competes in the Euro Cup and Megavalanche
