A little about Benito Juarez
Benito Juarez was born March 21, 1806. His full name is Benito Pablo Juarez Garcia. He was a national hero and the President of Mexico. -

His mom was Brigida Garcia. His dad was Marcelino Juarez. They both died when he was three years old. His uncle took care of him. -

He Moves
When he was 12 he moved with his sister to Oaxaca, Mexico, where he started his education. He studied for the priesthood, but in 1829 he got into the Oaxaca Institute of Arts and Sciences -
Judge
In 1841 he became a judge and he served as governor of his state. That was a post that brought him into national prominence. -
Presidency
In late 1860’s he went back to Mexico and was elected president. Juárez decided in July 1861 to suspend payment on all foreign debts for two years. -

In the early 1867, as a result of continued Mexican resistance, increased U.S. pressure, and criticism at home, Napoleon decided to take some of his troops back. -
Difficult Problems
Even after illness and personal loss, in October 1870 Juárez had survived a stroke, and three months later his wife died. -
Ran again for Presidnet
He decided to run again in 1871. After a bitter campaign he was reelected. He spent months restoring peace. -
His death
He then died in 1872. He had a heart attack. He was buried in the Pantheon of San Fernando in Mexico City.
