    Thomas Kuhn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Samuel and Minette Kuhn. His Father was a graduate from MIT and Harvard he also fought in WW1. His mom was a freelance editor and publisher for progressive organizations. Thomas Kuhn died in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was suffering from lung and throat cancer for 2 years.

    Thomas Kuhn attended several schools from grades 1st through 12th. he spent 5 years at a school called Lincoln School, this school as considered progressive and promoted free thought. Because of that Kuhn could not read till the 5th grade. He moved the following year and attended Hessian hills school from 6th to 9th grade. He grew to love physics and mathematics throughout his time there. He attended 2 more private schools in Connecticut and Pennsylvania before graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

    After His prep school years Thomas Kuhn was accepted into Harvard at the young age of 18. Began his BS in physics at Harvard. Kuhn struggled with physics his freshman year but still finished with an A on his final exam. After his freshman year he took summer classes. Kuhn sped up his degree and completed his degree in 1943 with honors.

    After finishing his BS Kuhn joined Radio Research Laboratory’s theoretical group based out of Harvard. The group worked on making countermeasures against enemy radar. The climax of the group is when Kuhn went to liberated Paris with a royal officer to investigate confiscated German radar equipment tin 1945.

    Thomas Kuhn was invited to teach a course on the history of science while he was still working on doctoral thesis. He later had an epiphany about modern science and the connection with Isaac newton and Aristotle. Due to the epiphany he declined the course and chose to find the truth about physics and science.

    After the war Thomas Kuhn returned to Harvard in 1946 and completed his masters in physics and later in 1949 he completed his doctorate. His PhD thesis was The Cohesive Energy of Monovalent Metals as a Function of the Atomic Quantum Defects.

    By 1956 Thomas Kuhn was still teaching at Harvard and was not offered tenure and was an assistant professor. That same year he accepted a position at UC Berkley. in 1958 after 2 years at Berkley he was made an associate professor and given tenure. And by 1961 he was a full professor of history of science.

    In 1957 Thomas Kuhn published The book the Copernican Revolution. In the book he scrutinized the theory that the earth orbits around the sun. Kuhn called the Claim “a revolution-making rather than a revolutionary text.” He compared the model to idea presented by Claudius Ptolemy about the portrayal of heavenly figures.

    in 1962 Thomas Kuhn published his book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. In this book Kuhn coined the term Paradigm Shift, this term made his legacy. The idea behind this book started in 1947 when Kuhn began at Harvard while he was working on his doctorate.

    Thomas Kuhn went to Princeton in 1964 He was hired as the professor of history of science and philosophy. And in 1979 he went to MIT and was hired as the professor of philosophy. He remained there until retirement in 1992.
