The Hammurabi Code
the Hammurabi code is the oldest legal codes. it was made by the Babylonian king Hammurabi. he was king for 42 years, 1792 - 1750 bc. the Hammurabi code of laws had 282 rules. it also had punishments for breaking the laws. the laws were written on a stone pillar that was looted by people and discovered in 1901. -

Cyris the Great
Cyrus the great (or Cyrus II) was born into royalty. when his father dies he became king and created an empire. he conquered the city of Babalon, but then did something amazing. he freed all of the slaves, he said that everybody could choose their religion. and he made everybody equal. and he rote all the ether things on a clay cylinder, called the Cyrus cylinder. -

the Magna Carta
king john became the king in England because his brother, King Richard died in 1199. when he became king he did not do so good. he sold church offices, later in 1215 there was a rebellion against the king. he had no choice but to give into there demands. later on June 15, he meet some people and made a document called the Magna Carta. the Magna Carta said that there were laws that kings had to follow and it also said that no free man should go to jail. -

the geneva conventions were a lot of diplomatic meetings that made lots of agreements. one of the agreements they made where the Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflicts. -

the declaration of human rights (udhr) is a document that was founded by the un, (united nations.) it is a very important document for our time. it is about giving every single person on this planet rights and about making everybody equal.
