During the winter from 1917-1918 while Jessie took care of John he asked to marry her and to owe his life to her for her kindness and saving his life. He then tells her that his wife was not dead, but he was divorcing her because she was a woman without morals and tricked him into marrying her. -

Polly phones the RNWMP to locate John from the train station. She was given the Prince Albert detachment, and reached him there. Polly very excited to hear from her husband in 6 years, John not so much. "Take the train to Saskatoon tomorrow and I'll meet you there midafternoon sometime." Aye, I will. Where should I meet you?" "Just stay at the station." -
They reunite
At the station Polly and Jack reunite, Jack less excited then Polly. From there they drove to Regina. A boarding house run by Mrs.Wismer. They would stay there for five and half months. -
Polly is pregnant with a boy
"Within days of her arrival she was pregnant." -
Polly finds Jacks letters
Jack left a letter from Polly in the pocket of his tunic. Polly found it and it revealed a relationship he has been keeping from her and that they were planning to get married. -
John kills Polly
After the confrontation to John about the affair, he felt he had no choice but to kill the mother of his children and the unborn child inside her. He had convinced her that he broke things off with Jessie and that they were going to move to Saskatoon. On that drive there he killed her in cold blood with his RNWMP rifle and barring her under a culvert and burning the car with the evidence inside. -
John burns the car
John burnt the car after killing Polly to destroy any evidence inside. But suspicions have caught on by fellow neighbors with the lies Jack had told about the car. -
Jack and Jessie marry
A day after the murder Jack rushes to Jessie and they quickly marry so he can feel he has done the right thing and got his bride. They married at the Knox church.
